It also provides a good baseline for a DM who wants to use a similar set up for "ancestral weapons" for the various noble families as well. |

It's certainly the first time it's ever seen print officially. I may have hinted at or outright shared the story, or some version of it, elsewhere (on the REALMS-L, or Candlekeep, or even on the old boards), but I have been patiently waiting to share it as the canon tale since--believe it or not--May of 2004, when Ed first gave me the thumbs-up on this and a number of other matters, plots, and lore-fillings-in for Cormyr. A portion of that truckload of Realmslore I shipped his way made it into the Cormyr articles last month, and yet more lurks here, unshared, until I am permitted to inject it into the appropriate sourcebook, article, or novel. Thank you for your praise. I had a great time working on this article (and the other two), and I'm tremendously happy that people are enjoying them. |
