I don't know forgotten realms very well, let alone the 4e gods. Does anybody know if there are any non-evil FR gods in 4e that are trickster and/or fey oriented?

Ironically enough. Try Oghma. At least for trickery.

EDIT: Oh, here we be...

Erevan Ilesere of the Elven Pantheon. Portfolio of Chaos, Elf, Luck and Trickery. Known as the Fey Jester.

Has some evil clerics, but also has neutral and good ones as well. Best I can dig up.

Yup. That would be the choice

For some backround on the god may I suggest the novel Depths of Madness

That might work, as long as the elf-ness isn't too pronounced in 4e. (I gather they're doing away with the strong god->race associations they had, though there's still some notable race->god associations.)

Baravar Cloakshadow, a gnome deity. Heck, the leader of the gnome pantheon (Garl Glittergold) seems like something of a trickster, himself.

True. But we're looking for trickery and fey. Unless gnomes have grown wings and got pretty, I wouldn't consider them fey in the least. ;)

As they actually should have been, in my opinion. I always saw gnomes more as the forest type than anything. Very recluse and hard to find.

Granted, I laughed when my first DM suggested I play an elf, 'cause I kept thinking of Santa Clause, so maybe childhood fairy tales still get the best of me.

I still think gnomes should be those hidden lil' helpers....

And what point did you thinking I was getting at? They were Ogerish? Perhaps they were slobs at Taco Bell? Hogged all the toilet paper when some Joe or Jill needed a little pass under the stall wall?

You, my man, are just prejudice!! And I will not stand for it!!!

That all depends on how you define fey.
;)

And yes, Merrick is right, gnomes will dwell in the Feywild come 4E.

I think we got something lost in the translation, here. And it definitely comes to my fault for bad wording. When I said I always envisioned gnomes as more of the "forest type," I actually meant the subrace, Forest Gnomes. Which is why I gave him a bit of (humorous) slack for pointing them out as always being "fey," as that is what I was referring to in the first place.

That cleared up, Merrik never said they will dwell in the Feywild--he just said they were "fey."

Though I'm glad to hear that's where we will be finding them. May I ask where this is stated?

Sorry, can't remember specifically where I saw it. However, I have been keeping tabs on all the 4E info that rolls out, if that makes any difference. The article about formorians (who live in the Feywild) mentions that they have gnomes working for them. Also, there's a picture of a gnome in the Monster Art preview, with a short blurb about him.

Well, I mentioned a similar reference about elves and was scolded about it being core and how it doesn't reply to 4e FR. Just don't want to get into that mix again.

And what of the gnomes of Lantan? They gone fey as well, or is this mainland specific?

EDIT: Hell, what's even happened to Gond?

Understood. People who say "core doesn't apply to FR" aren't entirely correct, though. After all, part of the reason for changing the FR setting so much was to make it meld more easily to the new rules.

But FR seems to have much more in the way to exceptions from the way I see it.

No need to apologize--didn't expect an answer. We all be in the dark about such little things...like the gnomes.

Artwork in D&D has consistently sucked. Just because we got 4 ft. halflings because of a potrait does not mean we are going to get demonic gnomes!

Being partially right is better then being always wrong. :P

And if you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then I was right in that case, as Eladrin are referred to as Sun Elves and Moon Elves in the Realms. They're only Eladrin mechanically.

It does generally come down to a case by case thing--also, we don't have much to go on, since the core books aren't out yet (well, not really) and the FRCG isn't out yet either.

In the case you mentioned, you are right.

Wrongness is in the eye of thee beholder. Just like beauty, everything isn't drop dead.

I don't like it (although the artwork is good). I liked gnomes because they were small and cheerful, and witty and funny. This one looks mean, sly, and would kick you in the groin and take your stuff.

Yes. That impression that he would "kick you in the groin and take your stuff" really worried me. Gnomes are known for being able to kick their legs that high, after all. ;)

Indeed, though. That is simply not a gnome.
