Forgotten Realms Novels!?

Aug 06, 2008 12:18:20 THIS IS A REPOST... of a previous post in the wrong forums (i never claimed to be forum literate =P ) oops

Ok. well this is odd i am sure that i am posint in the wrong area however i cannot seem to find the thread that i am looking for and this was the closest to it that i could find! in any event i have read ALOT of the forgotten realms novels and have many more that i havent read yet...it has been quite some time since i last read anything (family issues) never the less i wanted to reread them in chronological order as posted HERE however the timeline/list/chronology (whatever you wish to call it) stops at novels published in the year 2000... well it is 2008 now and i am sure (ok well we all know that in fact) that there have been several more novels published since y2k if there is an updated list somewhare that would be outstanding indeed!!! so if anyone knows of such a thing and wouldn't mind letting me in on the secret that would be even better.

Aug 06, 2008 12:27:37 The Grand History of the Realms puts the events in chronological order but it doesn't say Book A takes places this time, and Book B this time.....

Aug 06, 2008 12:29:29 thanks, i have been to the site refered and wheras it has a great timeline in a few different formats it is a litteral timeline of events, not novels =( and trying to decipher what events go to which novels is a painstaking task indeed *ponders making such a list*

Aug 06, 2008 13:46:40 -There isn't a metaplot to the Forgotten Realms. Novels take place independent of each other. So, there isn't any real reason for reading novels in chronological order. You're jump from series to series, confuse yourself, and forget relevant details from previous books in the current series. You are better off picking something you are interested in, and reading any novels pertaining to that.

Seconded. Definitely don't read books you aren't interested in first (if at all).

yea i know, like i said i havent read in a while and i have read most of them already but rather than reading tween stuff of which am neither a female or a teen i would like to reread them in a chronological order for $h!t$ and giggles

i have read about all i can of other authors (non d&d) Tolkien, G.R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan amongst others and wheras thier works are great cannot read them again so soon. so defering to forgoten realms and bringing back lost memories of elminster, drizzt and other heroes and heroins of the forgotten realms is the ideal situation for me. and since they are rereads i'd like to put them in the forementioned order. to go along with that i am not a buff of D&D and would not know where to begin on this history of events. i am sure that i have gone off into a random tangent but....well....why not.

forgive me i may have come across as rude though i can think of no ither way to express my... er... concern (for lack of a better term) . that was not my intention i appologize.

-A better way to do this might be to read series' in chronological order, if you want.
