#1 kaelenselunel Feb 12, 2009 3:17:29	Okay, I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, so I figured General was the best place. I recently commissioned an image of my character from my FR game (the second I've had done of him, actually), but to represent him after the time-jump to 1479 Anyway, I'm intensely proud of it, and have to say it was well worth the money I paid for it, so I wanted to show it to everyone here and see what others thought A little background, though. My character, Kaelen Mae'val, is an Eilistraeean Drow from the Velarswood, born around 1290 DR. His father was a moon elven bladesinger, though he was raised mostly by his mother. When his father did finally make an appearance, Kaelen became his apprentice. So, to deal with the new edition, we had him frozen in time during the Spellplague, and I ended up coming up with an amazing concept for an image that I absolutely loved. I'm working on a short story for his transition, but here's the image of Kaelen, in all of his dark elven, spellscarred glory. again, I'm not the artist, and I had this picture commissioned, but I love the artist's take on what the redeemed dark elves look like. I felt like sharing this with the community here because you guys rock edit: Also, I had to shrink it to make it a reasonable size to post, so it may be a bit fuzzy in a few places.
#2 suin_bahhar_02 Feb 12, 2009 4:05:51	Indeed. Now thats dusky skin! Nice impression of a redeemed dark elf. His tan, silvered hair and blue eyes seem to fit the image I have of the ancient dark elves right to the details.

#4 kaelenselunel Feb 12, 2009 18:34:24	I'm not so much bothered by the concept as by the method. I had been working with the DM of my FR game to move toward a similar result, honestly, even before the Lady Penitent trilogy came out. So, in the end, I sort of got what I wanted, in a method I really, really didn't like.

That was introduced in the Lady Penitent novels was it not? Or do you mean, specifically, the 4e epic destiny? The dark elves aren't really mentioned at all in 4e.
#8 lord_karsus Feb 18, 2009 20:35:07	That was introduced in the Lady Penitent novels was it not? -No. Dark Elves existed as the precursor to Drow, who were transformed in -10,000 long before the Lady Penitent trilogy. It was not until the Lady penitent trilogy, however, that Drow were "allowed" to be transformed back.
#9 niirfa Feb 18, 2009 23:32:51	But that's what I meant. They're "redeemed" drow, right - they turn back into dark elves. There might be some degree of miscommunication here, but I don't mean to indicate that the prestige class/epic destiny existed before 4e. I think you misinterpreted me to mean that dark elves hadn't existed previously. That's not what I meant. I simply meant that 4e hadn't invented them.
