| #1gersanOct 09, 2009 13:02:46 | Trying to find out more information about Bahamut. I have decided to choose him as a deity for my Half-Elf cleric in FR, because he took the place of my 3.5 favourite God- Tyr and comtinue his justice. I wish to find our more information about Bahamut in 4E FR. There was almoust no infoemtion about Bahamut if FRPG and FRCG. Bahamut is a Good deity, not a Lawful Good right? So the alignment of my character could be Chaotic Good, right? And another question- could be my alignment Chaotic Good if my God is Lawful Good? Thank... |

Bahamut is indeed a Good, not Lawful Good deity. Your cleric must be the same alignment as your deity. Don't forget that there is no such thing as Chaotic Good anymore - only Good or Lawful Good. You could play a Good character as Neutral Good or Chaotic Good by the old standards. |

What happened to that bloody 4E tenet about giving Clerics the freedom to worship whomever they like? That seems to have warped. Honestly, though, Bahamut has always been Lawful Good in his past incarnations, and is still Lawful Good in Core, not to mention that he inherited the role of the most venerated LG deity in the Realms of old. I'd say the OP has a case in worshipping Bahamut even if the alignments don't match. Alignment doesn't pack the punch/carry the weight it once did. |
| #4gersanOct 09, 2009 14:45:37 | And is there any information about "today's" Bahamut in FR ? In dragon mag. 378 was a topic about Bahamut's servants, but it seems to me that it doesn't count for FR's Bahamut. So may be there any other place where I can find info about him, or I don't miss anything and it would be in a future? May be Wizards will make Faerun Panteon Manual or smth like that?

Mind you, he has no intention or desire to play a Lawful Good cleric anyway but a Chaotic Good one. If he had chosen CG while Bahamut was LG, I'd say go for it. However, I also wasn't too shy about bending alignment rules in the first place, considering how lax the gods are about it. Seriously, how LG is it to kill someone because he was suspected of going out with their girlfriend?! |

They probably won't make a Deities and Demigods for FR. However, what exactly would you like to know concerning Bahamut? We might be able to help you come up with some ideas or at least info from past editions. |
| #7gersanOct 09, 2009 15:44:16 | Well then for now I am interested in his history. =) I know that he is a part of Dragon God Io, that Tiamat his enemy. But if there were any influence on history of the Faerun by Bahamut? Were there any wars or heroes in his name, or there were only dragons serving him? |

There is a decent write-up about him on wikipedia. Mostly old stuff though. can you post links here?

Bahamut and Tiamat are engaged in an (eternal) conflict known as the Dragonsfall Wars. The fighting waxed and waned over time, but underwent a renewed surge during the rise of Unther in the west (which was way back when). While the Untheric and Orc deities fought, Tiamat tried to assassinate Gilgeam, head of the Untheric pantheon, but was stopped by Bahamut's aspect, Marduk, who took out Tiamat at the cost of his own life. Bahamut was then basically uninvolved in the Material Plane, until he turned towards Damara in the 1350s DR. He has ties to the land of Damara, in the north, and its king, Gareth Dragonsbane. He basically made a covenant with that land, that Damara would be a base of sorts for the rejuvenation of his faith, after aiding the then-adventurer Gareth and his band drive back the demon Orcus. That... didn't get much attention, to my knowledge. This allowed Bahamut to regain a presence on Toril, though. In 4E canon, the main branch of the Dragonsbane line perished and its relative branches were scattered, so the status of the covenant in 1479 DR is still unknown at this time. He soon returned to fighting Tiamat in their back-and-forth struggle. Shortly after the Spellplague, the House of the Triad was assaulted by demons. Just when things looked grim, Bahamut and his draconic host arrived in full force and annihilated the demons, but not before Orcus slew Tyr. Sensing the lingering chaos, Bahamut then chose to relocate to Celestia, filling in Tyr's loss as the new Justice god. That's about it. |
| #10gersanOct 09, 2009 16:46:58 | Thank you for info. Mostly it was not new for me, but thank you. =)) I hope that someday in Dragom Magazine would be a full topic about FR Bahamut. =) If somebody will find more information about 4E FR Bahamut( after spellplague) I will apreciate that.
P.S. In wiki there are info mostly before spellplague.... |
