#3 lord_karsus Apr 25, 2009 16:06:51	-I don't think it'll win: The Knights of the Old Republic Sourcebook is pretty awesome. I don't even use the Star Wars Saga rulebooks, but I was looking this book over, and am planning on picking it up when I can, because it's that awesome. There's a lot of stuff jam packed into that book. -Those other things, I've never even heard of, let alone felt the urge to utilize. -R.A. Salvatore is also up for an award, as well as the Devil's Due illustrators, who adapted a few Forgotten Realms stories in their "World of D&D" title.

SW may win... but only because there was no ST game this year. Glad to see one of my favorite companies - Privateer Press - up for a few. Also very interested in that WoW miniatures game - definately gonna have to check that out -thanks for the Link! But either way, well done Brian. Yup. He sure does post a link with the best of 'em. ;)

#7 Dark_Wizard_02 Apr 25, 2009 17:58:19	Despite personal feelings, I think WotC will come out with either one or both awards in the RPG and RPG supplement category. Most likely the one for D&D 4E, possibly the one for FR 4E or the Old Republic. They have clout and the properties tied to 4E are popular and famous.

FRCG=I'll eat my 3e FRCS if that thing wins. That's a waste of a good 3e FRCS. Don't underestimate WotC's clout and popularity. Carp does not need recognition, it stinks all on its own... #10 markustay63 Apr 25, 2009 18:22:37	Yes, yes they did, although I never got to play it (I couldn't find anyone who wanted to - I guess they all weren't as cool as me :P ) However, Star Fleet Battles was a very neat little game and won all kinds of awards back in the day - it was way ahead of its time. A couple of years back I got into a B5 miniatures game, and it reminded me of it, but in simpler form (you didn't need to allocate energy for stuff, which was a major part of the SFB game). I love micro-management. :D And as DW has said, the only reason why Paizo isn't nominated is that they haven't done anything this year. Last year they swept the awards. Must have been all those 2eFR designers (and authors) they have working over there these days - those guys can design their arse's off. Oh, and actually did go and check-out those WoW minatures... I didn't think anyone else could produce minis as ugly as WotC's. Despite personal feelings, I think WotC will come out with either one or both awards in the RPG and RPG supplement category. True. Hasbro can afford lots of bribe money. :P Seriously - the thing reads like a HS textbook. I can't even figure out how the heck it was nominated - must be a bad year for RPGs or something.
#11 Dark_Wizard_02 Apr 25, 2009 18:39:46	hmmm, I never knew ST had an RPG... Trek had several. The license got shuffled around through the decades between at least 2-3 companies (maybe more). Some of them were crap, some of them were remembered fondly for their innovation and ability to capture the feel of the shows and movies. I never got to play any of them unfortunately. They also had one or several supposedly kickass tactical ship-to-ship battle games, also noted for their good approximation of the franchise's feel.

Also, I know Brian did 'stuff' on the FRCG, but he isn't listed there as one of the authors in the awards nominations. Hence my little joke - I looked for his name and couldn't find it. I'm still waiting for them to nominate me for "Most annoying Gamer". :D
