After finishing the 4 book series: A song of ice and fire by Goerge R.R. Martin. I came to see that DragonLance and Forgotten Realms is aimed at 12 year old. And will never aspire to realistic-fantasy. Even Raymond E. Feist topples this. So I wonder, why is it that everyone on this forum is well over adult reading these crappy novels and spending their time doing DnD in that same world? Disclaimer: Think before you try to bash and flame me, know who I am first because you will regret it afterwards. Call your mods, it's never stopped me.
