#1 subsistcyber Jun 25, 2009 2:55:56	Hey everyone, I'm a having a little difficulty coming up with some encounters for the Shadowfell. I know the Shadowfell is full of Shadar-Kai (and undead)and that the large majority of them are zealots of Shar and/or residents of Nethril; however, I can't for the life of me think of what else lurks out there that would make a fun encounter. Any help appreciated.

#3 subsistcyber Jun 25, 2009 4:24:37	Nightmares are Shadowfell creatures? I never really took a second glance at the majority of those creatures you just mentioned; they're all just so... out there. Guess that's why it's the Shadowfell. What's a "Dark City" keeper? I'll have to look some of these creatures up and see if anything pops up as a noteworthy encounter.
#4 quale1 Jun 25, 2009 5:45:19	well, nightmares were creatures of the Grey Waste (Hades), but now there is no such place, Shadowfel seems the best logical alternative the keepers were 2e Planescape creatures created by a member of the Fraternity of Order, 4e MotP retcons them to the city of Gloomwrought (sp?) in Shadowfel Dark City http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/

Didn't mean the majority of creatures in the Shadowfell (Plane of Shadows? 3e a lil?), I meant that majority of Shadar-Kai. I may be wrong in that assumption though. Still, I havn't found or been able to think of a worthwhile encounter there. Shadowfell seems a lil boring in regards to playability.
#7 ritorix Jun 25, 2009 20:35:47	You also get your enemies of Netheril, your crazy wizards/warlocks/clerics using the Shadowfell as a base of operations, etc. Its a good place to set any evil genius's lair. Also a good place for spies and the like - travel through the Shadowfell to your destination, then cross over to the Prime, as Netheril is fond of doing.

Shadowfell seems a lil boring in regards to playability. -There's very little in terms of Forgotten Realms Shadar-Kai information, but given how they've changed about ten times, who knows at this point. As for encounters, it depends on what you are looking for. The Plane of Shadows is filled with Shadow Dragons (canon), Drow-Dragons (canon), Shadar-Kai (canon), Malugrym (canon), Extraplanar Human (and more) settlements (canon), Sharrans (canon), Maskarans (canon), and the slaves of all three groups (canon). Things in the all of the Core Maunual of the Planes' have generic information that will also fit. Locations, things are sparse, but being twisted and conterminous with the Prime Material Plane, there's opportunity abound.
