Free Shadowbane novella and short story (seriously!)

So I have this long history of coupling every novel I publish with a short story companion piece, but this time--with my this-week-released ebook SHADOWBANE--I went for broke and wrote a whole 85 page novella that fills in some of the year between DOWNSHADOW and this one. It's entitled:

"Chosen of the Sword" -- a free e-novella by Erik Scott de Bie

I also updated my original DOWNSHADOW companion story. For folks who've read this before, there are a few minor changes that I think make it worth a re-read:

"The Last Legend of Gedrin Shadowbane" by Erik Scott de Bie

You can find these free downloads on the Abyssal Plague hub, down at the bottom, under "Additional Material."

And of course, SHADOWBANE launches this week on Kindle (temporarily crashed but back now) and Nook.

And if that weren't enough, on Tuesday I fought the Forgotten Realms' first ever Twitter Duel, of which the transcript is here.

Hope you enjoy!

Cheers

I see that Luskan is featured in Shadowbane. Hrmm...I might just purchase Shadowbane after all.

Side note: one of my favorite authors is Sam Harris. He recently published in a short essay called Lying, in e-book only format through Amazon.com, which necesitated my downloading the Kindle Book Reader Ap in order to read the essay on my girlfriend's Mac.

The Kindle Ap, as it turns out, works great: very easy to change font size, screen brightness and navigate through the book.

FYI for those of you considering whether or not to purchase Shadowbane.

Just came back from a vacation in Italy and wanted to start reading Shadowbane. But Amazon tells me it's not available. Now I have a few pages until it will hopefully be available at Amazon. Thanks, Erik!

It was down on Amazon for a few days but should be up now.

Perhaps it's just that popular, so it crashed the site. )

Still, does not work for me. But I think I found the reason: my german IP. The book isn't released for Europe yet, right? So, is there a plan to release it for Europe or do I have to miss your new book? There were a lot D&D EBooks which weren't released for Europe lately but I always had the option of buying the paperback edition. That isn't an option now.

PS: Same for Neverwinter (not available as Kindle Version here).

PPS: Nice Novella, but I haven't really understood the ending.

Spoiler

Was Vaelis hypnotized by Kirenkir.. what was his name again? (Ne..)?
Went he mad because of the loss of his girlfriend and the feel of betrayal from Kalen?
Or went he mad because he wasn't really ready for Vindicator and the will of the Threefold God overpowered him?
Or was it really an illusion and Kalen killed him for nothing?

Ah, Lars, you're supposed to be asking yourselves these questions. They're the same ones that Kalen asks himself. He just doesn't know--and that's the thing that hurts the most.

And I will check on the Europe E-books thing for you if I can. Stand by.

Thanks for the short stories Erik.

I finished reading Downshadow a couple weeks ago and I loved it.

I keep hoping that Wizards will sell a printed book of Shadowbane, but if they
don't, Shadowbane will be my first eBook.

Until swords part!

I have really enjoyed all your other books, but now I have to pause as Shadowbane has not been published in print format yet. This is disturbing as I am one of those who does not like ebooks and so will not be purchasing this one until it is printed. It is nothing against you or your writing, if they had published Salvtore's new book in ebook format only, I would not have purchased that one either. I hope this is the place to voice my complaint about the ebook format.

Aside from that, I still am eagerly awaiting Shadowbane to be printed and will put all else aside to read it. Thanks for listening.

Hi dimndbangr,
Thanks for the support and the feedback.
If you feel strongly about it, consider posting in this thread: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758...
Or share your concerns privately, if you prefer. )
From my perspective, all I want is for you to get the book you want and enjoy my work. I hope it works out for you.
