So my brother decided his Halfling should speak with a French accent, for reasons unknown. He’s looking for a region to call home. Which region of the Realms would you map to France? I lean towards the Vilhon Reach for its wine production, but am curious as to what others would say.

Cormyr was definitely influenced by medieval-and-Renaissance France, so there's that.

Funny, I thought Impiltur (and the nearby city-states to the northwest) was more 'French'...Cormyr and Sembia seem like an amalgamation of England &  mainland Europe during a more mercantile era.

Mph, Vilhon Reach is kinda depopulated post-Sundering, so maybe not.  Plus, I see that area as a developing frontier.

You could have some of the Western Heartlands or south Sword Coast be French-y.  Or, Chessenta (multiple city-states vying for influence = 1300s France).  Unther and Mulhorand need to be re-filled (from scratch?), you could place something new there.  Or place an independent village in the North (near the High Forest).

Impiltur does have the whole cheese thing going for it:

"A typical tavern meal in Hlammach included...a platter of pungent cheeses,"
