I was wanting to know if anyone has used it and if they have, did you find a map or use your own. I was thinking something similar to the Mines of Moria, I wasnt certain, if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated... |

There's nothing quite like insane hybrids of illithids and derro, retaining their racial insanity and proclivity to torture anything that walks, to give PCs a good fright. I can't recall a map either, but I remember reading somewhere that the halls were dismal, filled with monsters and illithi-derro, and that the Knights of Myth Drannor found a very long passage (or something) that they followed through the Underdark all the way back to Shadowdale. That's a long way, although I imagine the Underdark has changed quite a bit in that region since the Spellplague. |

As for maps - I don't recall the location of Gauntlgrym given anywhere more certainly than 'somewhere in the North'... |

| #8JorunhastJun 08, 2010 7:07:36 | Its in the North box set from 2E. Its a pdf download. It is, which is south of Mirabar... although it's probably just one entrance. Gauntlgrym was supposed to have been quite big, so I imagine it had multiple above-ground and many, many connections to the Underdark. It probably hasn't been "found" because the illithiderro and other monsters have not only taken it over but have spread into surrounding areas of the underdark. Psionic, insane, murderous knee-biting midgets that can swarm a hapless party of adventurers in mere seconds... that's a pretty good deterrent to exploration. And comedy gold for a DM. "That's... they're... that's overpowered!" "Not really, there are just a LOT of them, heh!" Illithiderro > Pixies |
