What do we know about the coming Genasi kingdom in 4e?

Not much.

But I read in the countdown articles the genasi largely where transposed on the realms.. like the dragonborn.

Interested how they gonna describe the cultures and genasi architecture upon the flying motes.

I always liked Genasi, too, but not like this. Not at the expense of the entire Dragon Coast and all the interesting intrigue. Fire Knives? Gone? Westgate? Gone?

I would rather eat glass than play or run a hundred years in the future. They can take their politically correct, **** retentive Baldurs Gate that makes no sense whatsoever, and shove it up their candy a**es.

however, I am interested in what people have to say about the genasi kingdom

They made Tieflings a fully-fledged race, not just rare freaks and mutants, and in the core world, gave them an old, fallen empire. Same thing with the Dragonborn. So I assume that they'll turn the Aasimar and Genasi into fully-fledged races as well, hence the Genasi kingdom.

And no more freaks.

Presumably existing genasi will be wiped out or retconned to accommodate this.

I think having a fully fledged race with a kingdom will make the appeal of playing a genasi beter. How would a race with elemental afiinities organise its lawsystem for example. And will the earth genasi be the worker caste (mainly clerics building all structures on landmotes), the water genasi the law enforcement (defendery and tenacious), the fire genasi the militairy (blasting enhanced soldiers and fiery warlocks), and the air genasi the governmental caste (elite warlords and bookish wizards)?

I think the appeal is the fact that they are rare and strange. I think a lot of players enjoy that type of character

Well, I'm sure your right. But at the very least they have let out bits and pieces of the new Realms which has all so far been disheartening. So you may have forgive Msatran for assuming the worst

I think the appeal is the elemental and planetouched flavour... not necesarily thier rarity... In chessenta and surrounding areas they were not uncommon. You can play a scro or Thri Kreen for strange and rarity...
But yeah, in the rest of Fearun they used to be quite rare, and that has its appeal too.

Westgate being still around eh, Iakhovas? It aint might have not gotten hit by the changelands as hard as Chondath...

Agreed. But deepening their backstory with a kingdom wont hurt either. Unless they'll retcon all older planetouched to magically being from this Shyr kingdom, the older freak genasi can still be loners seeking out realms where their elemental spiced souls pull them too.

I don't know what the source of your information was, but I think it was inaccurate. I do know the LFR Admins in Australia who are responsible for writing LFR adventures for the Dragon Coast and Westgate would be very surprised to hear otherwise. Their first adventure is set in Westgate (see reposted blurb), and since all of our adventure proposals/blurbs are reviewed and must be approved by WotC (for consistency with both the FR campaign setting and their planned novels), you can take the announced blurb as officially approved. The Fire Knives, Westgate and the Dragon Coast will be source of intrigue for many years, I suspect.

DRAG-1 Many Hands Make Light Work
Westgate is a dangerous city at any time, but today it’s about to live up to its name. Today, a band of pious Silverstars have arrived in your precinct and they need a little help with renovations and… removals. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in the Dragon Coast for characters levels 1-4.

I still do not like the idea of the living fr.

I do not want to see the effects of it become canon.

unless its
FR timeline:

then has one living FR timeline

1476: retcon was found dead, killed by drizzt teamed up with halaster blackcloak.

anyway, I though the tiefling point of light falllen kingdom was just for that points of light core 3? and that it would not overwrite the FR tiefling.

-This is overreacting a bit. In the end, WotC decides what becomes canon and what doesn't, so what's the difference between them picking an interesting adventure, or them writing the adveture? Nothing, really.

Why do you say that?

-Because that's how it works. I don't remember the name of the adventure off hand, but do you remember the one where the players free Waukeen from Gra'zzt? Lore has been made since that denotes how "a band of adventurers" freed Waukeen. This will be, in a general sense, what happens in the case of the Living Forgotten Realms, and the RPGA. The things that are deemed canon will be somewhat vague, so that lots of people can feel special.

-Say that 1,000 people play the "Kill Fzoul!" adventure. After everything is said and done, "a bunch of adventurers" will have killed Fzoul. Follow?

Air Genasi - you can read all the available info in my FAQ.

LFR/RPGA
LK is quite correct - the canon will derive from the adventures themselves, which are 'approved' by officials sources. Details of individual groups running the adventure are purposely left out when the incident is discussed in sources later on - this way everyone can pretend it was their group that 'did it'.

Its a sham, really - NOTHING happens in canon that they didn't plan in the adventure. They have always presented adventure lore thusly, and I can only think of one example where the 'negative outcome' of the adventure was used, rather then "the good guys won".

And that would be Brian James' version of the events surrounding Solon, Ra-Khati, and Tan Chin from the Horde series of adventures. I suppose the reasoning behind that was that not many FR fans used them.

I wouldn't completely bank on that. While stereotype applies, in all reality, fire genasi and their self-superiority would be hard pressed to simply taking a back seat in the governing of their own nation. And subjection to their race would leave them retaliating.

Nope. But I found a clue that the different types of genasi survive. Rich Baker spoke about a playtest he did with an epic genasi warlock with the wildfire racial paragon path here. He mentions taking two pieces of a soul to make his character.. fire soul and storm soul...

Does that mean genasi intermingle nowadays? All genasi are dual elemental? Whe'll see soon enough.

I highly doubt all genasi are dual--though the concept is a bit cool, providing there is diminished power on both sides.

But, come on, how elemental can a person be? I mean, storm/fire/magic genasi, when only fire is a true "element?"

Earlier rumors told about a unique genasi race, as if they were a race infused by the energies from the Elemental Chaos. With racial feats and/or paragon paths then you would "specialize" in an element or energy type of your choice.

I'm not sure if that was early design or clues made by the designers or even some players. I don't say I don't like it... just waiting to see what's really going to be.
#56

suin_bahhar_02

There will be only one Genasi race, but by choosing the soulparts one can make a dual (a Shyrian) or monoelemental (Fearunian) genasi. For example an older regular fire genasi chooses the Firesoul and Efreetisoulpart, and a typical Akanûlian genasi would pick the Water and Air/Storm soulparts. This'll keep the older planetouched feel intact while making dual elemental genasi possible. And more powerful racial feats can be chosen depending on the former soulparts. This design sounds rather interesting to say the least.

The normal elementals (they are not in the 4E MM yet?) are mostly multielemental aswell, so this will make the new genasi fit the new planar themes. The older genasi where more closely linked with efreet and djinni ancestry and more linked to the Calimshan history.

There is some truth in that. The rarity is a plus, although a kingdom of them does not rule out their rareness. There is a kingdom of shades after all and people still stare at them as they walk down the street. Who knows how many genasi occupy the kingdom and whether or not they leave much
