| #1voltglossSep 10, 2008 0:24:15 | So I'm looking to create my first RPGA character for Living Forgotten Realms. I'm interested in trying Genasi, and Stormsoul in particular. But instead of your typical Swordmage or Taclord, I decided to try something a little different. I give you my first stab at: The Stormsoul Genasi Cleric of Tempus Str 18 Con 11 Dex 8 Int 14 Wis 16 Cha 11 At-Will Powers: Righteous Brand, Sacred Flame Lv 1 Encounter Power: Wrathful Thunder Lv 1 Daily Power: Beacon of Hope Lv 1 Feat: Arcane Initiate (Encounter Power: Thunderwave) Lv 2 Utility Power: Bless or Shield of Faith (undecided - accuracy is always nice, but Shield of Faith looks handy vs. that big squad of brutes or soldiers) Lv 2 Feat: Primordial Surge Lv 3 Encounter Power: Split the Sky Lv 4 Feat: Light Shield Proficiency Obviously, the idea here is to flavor your typical Battle Cleric by emphasizing his Thunder and Lightning powers. My ideal Action Point turn goes Promise of Storm -> Wrathful Thunder -> Thunderwave, for a potential 3d8+1d6+6 damage (total 10-36) plus daze and push 3. It'll be even better once I get my grubby mitts on a Thunder or Lightning weapon and/or get Split the Sky, as Promise of Storm will still be active until the end of my next turn. Couple that with your typical handy Cleric buffs and healing - along with an extra 9 temp hp every time I use Promise of Storm after level 2, even if the follow-up attacks miss - and I can see things being fun. I haven't carefully mapped this out beyond Level 4, although I expect to take further Wizard multiclass feats to grab useful mid-tier Lightning/Thunder powers (the next Cleric one is at Level 15!). I'll also take a better Weapon Proficiency (probably Bastard Sword) later on, as well as moving up to Heavy Shield Proficiency (since Scale isn't in the cards). Perhaps Spellstorm Mage may be the most logical Paragon Path? Please let me know your thoughts, comments, and questions. I'm new to the whole "optimization" thing, so any tips on how to enhance this character concept would be much appreciated. Thanks much. |

Just a quick observation, didn't cross check ramifications. t~ |

You will have only lesser effects on your Wizard powers (and only some of them) for a high Wis, and you'll need to build up Int to hit with Wiz powers. You only have Sacred Flame as a Wis-based power, so I'd just drop Wis to 12-14 and scale up Int and Str as primary. Also, I know it's not really a good weapon, but think about a staff. Otherwise you'll need three implements/weapons, plus shield, plus armor, plus amulet/cloak, plus anything else... Money-wise it would be a problem. You'd probably keep every old object your companions drop in favor of a better version... |

| #5lord_karsusSep 25, 2008 16:30:50 | -Tempus is certainly a good deity to choose for a Storm Genasi, yes. |
| #6affabledoomwalkerSep 25, 2008 21:04:36 | *sighs* if only Talos was still around. |
| #7lord_karsusSep 25, 2008 21:08:43 | *sighs* if only Talos was still around. -He is...He's just Gruumsh now (and always in the past). ;) |
| #8rauricSep 25, 2008 21:34:41 | He is in my game. The pcs old nemesis was a cleric of Talos. Being human and 100 years have passed he has died, but he did happen to have children. :D Plus one of the players was an air genasi of Shaundakul so there is lots of good times to be had when all of these genasi meet up. ;) |
