God for a dragonborn sorceress

According to the article on domains, Arcana is split between Corellon, Selune and Sseth.  As a reptilian god, Sseth could be an excellent god for a power-hungry dragonborn sorceress.  However, my character is not Evil!  I guess I could play her as Unaligned, perhaps being seduced by Sseth into using really destructive powers unnecessarily, falling into evil in time. This is a direction I could go into at paragon level, She could rise his notice as she gains power.

The other two gods don't really fit the idea of a dragonborn sorcerer.  Corellon is god of fey.  Selune is goddess of the moon.  My character is a dragon sorcerer, yet Bahamut seems a poor choice.  Like Sseth, Tiamat is evil, so she is not suitable either.  As sorcerers do not study magic, I can't link her to Oghma or Dugmaren.  She is not a necromancer, so she can't be linked to Shar.    Dragon magic is elemental, so primal powers don't seem right.  Who then, holds the portfolios of Mystra or Azuth?

I would say Azuths and Mystras Portfolios were divided up by Corellon and Selune, and possibly Elminster. But regardless you dont have to pick a patron deity. Most people in the Realms worship the whole pantheon. If youre a farmer you pray to Chauntea to bring some good crops, or maybe Silvanus. Youre POed at some one, pray to Shar or Hoar for some vengence, all depends on the circumstance. So your character could pray to various gods depending on the situation.

But if you really, really want to pick a patron god, one you hold above all others, go with who evers dogma you character relates tothe most, regardless if it seems like a good fit for a Dragonborn Sorcerer or not.

Thats my 2 coppers.

One of the archprimordial lords would fit if your dragonborn sorceress has a strong affinity to a single element. Kossuth is a favorite of mine personally because believing fire is the best way of purification is a common philosophy.

You could choose a diety of nobility like Siamorph or Nobanion if you want to play up her magic ability as inheritance. I can see dragonborn gravitating towards keeping the arcane powers in certain noble family lines to prevent too much widespread use of dragonmagics destructive power.

You can always try out some of the draconic pantheons dieties, and with dragonborn having a history of battling their dragon overlords the evil dieties that oppose the rule of Tiamat and Bahamut could be an interesting choice. Garyx is the god of fire and renewal. You can find more on the draconic dieties here.

take Amuanator or Torm. or even better, take Tempus yeah do tempus

and most  of the ARticles unless stated are core 3 point of lights and have to be modified for the realms  since Even Richard Baker has stated several times that the phb Bane is NOT neccessarily the Bane we all love to hate iin the Realms

They are focusing more in 4e FR on the domains and less on the races of the gods. However, your sorceress could serve the Elemental Lords as a group. If there's one particular element she favours, choose that particular lord or lady.

then we'd need to know more about said dragonborn sorceress then.

I still say Tempus would do if said sorceress likes to deal with battle magic

Thava is a Dragon Magic sorceess, whose breath weapon manifests as lightning.  She is part of a band who adventure along the Dragon Coast: a monk, a fighter/rogue hybrid, an invoker and a druid/wizard hybrid.  She specialises in elemental spells that pack a punch.  Her motivation is to find arcane treasure that belonged to dragons.  She wants to battle evil dragons and take their magic away from them, hoping to put in her peoples' care.

I like this idea of noble heritage.  This does seem to tie in with my concept of her.  She wants to seize magic from evil dragons and give it back to her people for safekeeping.  While not a wizard, she does study arcane lore and history relating to dragons.  I think Siamorphe is a good fit, particularly as she is a female deity.

On the other hand, Tempus inspiring her to unleash her power against her enemies works equally well!  I just thought that he considers magic users to be weak and cowardly?  Isn't he supposed to champion physical might and combat prowess?  I think Talos is better choice in this regard, he is the epitome of destructive power! I don't buy this rubbish that Talos is an aspect of Gruumsh!Yell I think I will work on the premise that Tempus saw an opportunity and claimed this sphere as part of his portfolio!  I guess he can champion sorcerers who show no fear and bring their presence to bear in battle.

So, I think Thava primarily worships Tempus, but tempers this with the teachings of Siamporphe.Smile

How about Akadi: forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Akadi ?

Female primordial of air. Ties to lightning (even though Talos and Umberlee really do storms), and a self-imposed quest to steal gold from evil dragons could be the characters 'life experiment'.

You could also go for Auril, or, more appropriately, her more 'benign' aspect, Aurilandür the
Frost Sprite Queen (though that means you may have connections to Sarifal in the Moonshae isles).

There are no gods other than Corellon. Except for Erevan Ilesere. All the other gods are just Corellon and Erevan pulling pranks on the population of Toril. No matter who you worship, you're still worshipping Corellon, so just worship him to begin with and cut out the non-existant middleman. Cool

Since (by raw) there is no straight up arcana deity like Mystra, you'll probably want to highlight another of your character's priorities.  (Iow, she doesn't have to follow a "sorcerer" deity just because she's a sorcereress.)  I really like the idea of seeking to restore lost magical might to the dragonborn peoples.  If this includes restoration of some sort of noble station in the world (or above dragons?!), Siamorphe is a really cool twist!  Unless the "movement" is limited to a small cult, Siamorphe could really have a larger influence in your in-game world if she establishes some worship among the Abeiran/not-used-to-deities dragonborn.

Selune isn't so bad as an understudy pure-arcana deity, but I admit her vibe doesn't quite match your character upon first consideration.  Still, you could spin it so that your character embraces the magic and change aspects of Selune and views herself as a harbinger of the dragonborn's coming return to ascendancy.  (You could even give her silver scales or something.)

Amaunator might be another atypical option to consider. He's got that blazing, fiery side to him that's good for roasting bad guys and he also concerns himself with civilizations at large.

Thanks, these are good ideas!Smile

I'm gonna play her as a sorceress who learns about and seeks arcane draconic lore/items, who is influenced by her martial comrades' dedication to Tempus.  To serve both deities, she must balance the intellect with the bloodlust!Cool

Oh, I beg to differ. Most of my characters have been very tactical-minded, and that includes my Sorcerors. The role of the strategist is one of, if not my very, favorite roles. Just because they favor CHA over INT doesn't mean they have to be dimwits.

I would suggest going with Hoar. Especialy if you like lightning attacks. Hoar is real big on lightning strikes. I could see Hoar attracting some of Talos's followers if they didn't want to worship an orc god.

Hoar is an Evil god, and my character does not bear any serious grudges against dragons.  She only wants to cripple them so they aren't tempted to attack her people.

Hoar is now part of Bane's entourage, he has nothing to offer a non-evil PC that has no scores to settle.
