God for a Seer?

Sep 26, 2011 1:04:29 Short form, I'm being essentially forced to pick a god for a character. Fortunately, it's not a divine character, so I can just give lip service and skip the bells and whistles. Anyway, does FR have a god appropriate for a character who is a Seer/precognitive?

Sep 26, 2011 1:24:35 If you're a real pre-cog then your god should be whichever you, as the character, know is going to be most important.

Basically... it doesn't matter. Your character has a damn good reason to follow any god based on his abilities, he just has to keep saying that according to visions this specific god will save his bacon some day.

Heh. Actually, she is (Seer theme and all). Just figured if they had something appropriate, I'd snag it for simplicity's sake. Not like I'd ever use it for more than an excuse to shout 'By (God)'s (Attribute)' instead of 'Holy ****' when I'm surprised.

Savras, the god of divination, presuming he isn't destroyed.
Sehanine Moonbow, very mystical, definitely had a thing for visions and such.
Selune had similar aspects to Sehanine, though they weren't quite as prevalent.
Oghma could be argued, though I think its stretching things a bit, personally.

But really, I'd have to agree, almost any deity could be justified according to her personality and agendas, and whether she embraces the whole seer thing or not. If so, those gods up there would be fairly appropriate I think, if not, well, just about anything could work.

Hmm. According to some wiki I just found, Selune has a sect or organization called the Oracles of the Moon. Probably my best bet if playing to stereotypes .. which I don't normally do, but I figure just this once, why not.

For a pre-cog? I would think Tymora would leave things up to chance, although it depends on how you gain your "visions"...if you threw down a handful of rice or something, then it would be left to chance per se...

I guess it really depends on what your interpretation of "seer" is going to be. In some games, the seer was usable by all gods, as clerics had augury spells that sort of did the trick and it was available to all clerics.

Sep 30, 2011 13:58:21 Yeah, the Seer theme ability to look at someone and determine their next 3 (important) d20 rolls seems like taking luck out of the equation.

Well, yes.

I think I may have figured out more properly how to phrase my question. 'Is there a FR god who has 'prophecy' as an element of their portfolio?'
