Seeing as the Primordials relationship with the Fearunian pantheon was strained (especially with Auril and Umberlee actively demanding souls as tribute), how come they suddenly become buddies with the Oakfather? How would Mielikii look at this? |

Anyone else in the deities chapter is implied to be a god. As for why they now follow Silvanus, after the Spellplague had revealed Talos to be an alter ego of Gruumsh and Fury's Heart was destroyed, they had to go somewhere. Auril, Umberlee, and Malar were already wary of Talos, and they certainly weren't going to follow him after finding out about such a deception. Letting them die would mean someone else would have to grab their portfolios. In the case of Malar and hunting at least, we know it's one of the rare parts of nature that Silvanus doesn't like. Adding this aspect to his portfolio and having to change his personality accordingly might not have appeared interesting to him, much like Tempus never tried to defeat Garagos in battle, so that someone else would be the god of rampage and pillaging. The three remaining gods of Fury might also have sought refuge with another deity like Bane, Lolth, or even Cyric. I'm sure that Silvanus would rather be the one to guide them, and be there to watch what they're doing. And perhaps now that they're following Silvanus rather than Gruumsh, they can slowly change into less cruel versions of themselves. As for whan Mielikki would say, it's not like Silvanus is the first gods to have exarchs of opposing alignments. Just think of the CN Tempus who's always has the LN Red Knight and the CG Valkur working under him. Mielikki and Malar (and their clergies) will likely remain enemies for quite a long time. |

I am neither. :D But if you're interested in speculation, kindly remind your readers what was going on back then.Show Le'ssee.......uh....1764 - 100.......- 1500.......= 164 years before the Spellplague hit??? Is that like, pre-box set? Hmm...I'm probably missing something. |

Seeing as the Primordials relationship with the Fearunian pantheon was strained (especially with Auril and Umberlee actively demanding souls as tribute), how come they suddenly become buddies with the Oakfather? How would Mielikii look at this? -Being as that there's no information on this topic, and likely never to be, we don't have much to work with. That said, that's not what I'm going to deal with. Mielikki would probably look upon it all a lot like Savras and Azuth did concerning Velsharoon, when Mystra "brought him on board". It's not her decision, but rather, that of her 'boss'. As long as she's serving her 'boss', she'll at least outwardly accept it. She might not have to like the situation, but she's gotta deal with it. |
| #5markustay63May 18, 2009 11:42:25 | Why do people think Sylvanus was good? ![]() Too many darned preconceptions in FR, I'm thinking. Sylvanus is about nature and maintainig it, in balance. There have been just as many druids that wiped-out settlements as there have been those that help them. Just read the history of the Emerald Enclave. There is no reason why the gods of Fury wouldn't work with Silvanus - it is about time these deities were more accurately represented. Chauntea is about 'taming' nature, Sylvanus is about maintaining it. People really need to stop looking at deity's alignments (which are a crock), and start looking at their portfolios. The 'two-step' rule introduced in 3e(?) was probably one of the worst things ever done to the rules. These beings are cosmic forces, not people (even if they once were). A god IS their portfolio, and thats the real deal. |
| #6suin_bahhar_02May 18, 2009 15:00:59 | I wasn't really thinking one the alignment axis, more on the fact the fury gods are primordial, who don't necesarily have the greatest relationship with dieties. I noticed in Fatihs and Pantheons the Gods of Fury, who were led by Talos who had Silvanus as one of his many foes, where created in the War of Light and Darkness. So Torils twin dieties could actually create primordial avatars to work for them, wich seems rather powerful even for a dual-goddes like entity. Anyway, also Chauntea was opposed by Umberlee, so Chauntea leaving for her own realm when she moved into the Green Fields makes sense. |
