Nov 21, 2010 16:09:40 Is there a "replacement" god for the Grey Dwarves? Since both Laduguer and Deep Duerra have died.

Personally, I'd just have them craft heretical cults of Moradin. If they're still around in your 4E Realms, that would piss off the other Dwarves to no end.

Abbathor could also be a good candidate if he's still around.

Some other heretical cults to other Dwarven Deities could also be possible.

EDIT: I realize what gave me wishy-washy feelings about whether Duergar are still around or not... I checked the Grand History of the Realms. In 1383 DR - the same year Gorm Gulthyn, Haela Brightaxe, Laduguer and Deep Duerra die - the following happened.

"The War of Gold and Gloom comes to an unexpected end in the caverns of long-abandoned Barakuir. During the course of a great battle between the Army of Gold and the Army of Steel, the crusaders of the Great Rift discover a collection of ancient runestones detailing the fate of Clan Duergar and the betrayal that led to the fall of their kingdom. This discovery, long forgotten, prompts the loretaker illithids of Oryndoll to unleash an army of thralls against both dwarven hosts, although the gray dwarves suffer most of the casualties. In the end, the dwarves lose more than half their number, but Oryndoll’s thrall army is shattered. In an unexpected act of compassion, the commander of the Army of Gold offers the surviving duergar a place within his company. The united Stout Folk then march west into ruined Shanatar, in hopes of claiming a bastion suitable for repelling the inevitable illithid attack to come."

Although it is unlikely that ALL Duergar have rejoined the Gold and Shield Dwarves, a sizable chunk may have reintegrated overtime due to the above event.

Nov 25, 2010 0:59:33 I agree with Delta, Asmodeus makes the most sense. And it seems like I remember something Realms related that stated that many of the Duergar have sided with Asmodeus, but I cant remember where i seen that at now?

Nov 25, 2010 12:03:13 Yeah, it might of been in a DDI article or something, I'll look around and see if I cant find it. But Asmodeus would defiiely work. But after thinking on it some, 4e Realms has moved away from racial pantheons, so really there probably isnt really a set god for the grey dwarves. Its probably more like this group worships Tempus, this other group might worship Bane, some might even worship Lolth, whos to say?

The tables in there by race were excellent that gave ideas of gods and languages by region/race. Really not seeing the quality of material like that. It gave GMs and players the tools to make a character without requiring them or I to read entire books. Just doesn't seem to be arranged anywhere that I can find. That book could have stopped at page 33 and been worth the price paid.

They need to give us more Realms stuff, it seems like most, if not all, of the latest DDI offerings have been Dark Sun related or Essentials. Give us some good, old-fashioned Realmslore already godsdamnit!!!

However, much of the race information from the Players Guide to Faerun and books like the Races of Faerun should still apply. I mean sure its like 100 years later, but the races info and ethnicities should still be good, aside from game mechanics.
