When Dwenomer was destroyed, Velsharoon’s lifeless?? body was cast into the Astral Sea. And to prevent Orcus from finding it and using Velsharoon’s body so Orcus could achieve god-hood, like Asmodeus did through Azuth, Simbul destroyed it. But when the fire consumed Velsharoon’s body, his left hand and one eye survived the destruction. When Simbul returned to the world, unknown to her, the eye and hand were drawn to the world with her. These vial artifacts now seek to achieve vengeance against Simbul and all her Symbachs, and by extension, the land of Aglarond. It would have an affinity for Red Wizards as Velsharoon was once a Red Wizard. As well as for members of the Cult of the Dragon who worshipped Velsharoon. It might be that when someone possesses both the eye and hand that would be able to perform rituals to create undead. And being that Velsharoon was a lich, his Phylactery may still exist. And if this were the case then Orcus would seek the phylactery as it could contain the divine energy he needs to achieve true good hood. Eye of Velsharoon (Vecna) Hand of Velsharoon (Vecna) Replace: “Spread the worship of Vecna across the world” to “Destroy Simbul and any Simbach anywhere they are found.” +2 concordant bonus for Red Wizards and Cult of the Dragon. I thought this would be one way of incorporating these two artifacts in the Realms. Based on passage on page 88 of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide. |
