| #1creyzi4zb12Mar 28, 2010 12:59:30 | paulskemp.livejournal.com/273952.html Why does Cale have long hair? Or is that Riven? Or Magadon? |
| #2sfdragonMar 28, 2010 13:44:59 | your late, we saw this before and it was also posted in the canceld thread. but yeah we saw it. that might be CAle's son. the new god of thievery |
| #3LordManshoonMar 28, 2010 14:21:08 | paulskemp.livejournal.com/273952.html I'm pretty sure that's neither Cale nor Magadon (call it a gut feeling, but posting a pic of Erevis after his "fate" in Shadowrealm would be pretty silly, and not in line with Paul's style of keeping mysteries at the edge of your vision, and Mags has never really been one for melee combat, right?). It could be Riven, but I, like sfdragon, think it's possibly/probably Vasen. |
| #4creyzi4zb12Mar 28, 2010 22:50:04 | I've always thought of Cale's son to be a kid/runt still. How many years did pass since the shadowstorm engulfed Faerun until Riven found out Cale had a son anyway? BTW: Maybe Cale's son has some of Mask's powers into him...like, Mask poured out what's left of his god powers into Vasen. After all, he was planning on dying (i like to call it that way instead of merging with Shar), so why not just give everything you have to one lucky guy. |
| #518DELTAMar 28, 2010 23:43:10 | Cales son will be a Paladin of some sort.![]() |
| #6ZireaelMar 29, 2010 4:13:28 | Cale's son? You just piqued my interest. Where can I read about him? |
| #718DELTAMar 29, 2010 4:44:46 | The first short in Realms of War had where Varra was preg with Cales child. Mask hid her and the Baby after Mask 'touched' the child.![]() Cycle of Night will be about Vasen Cale the son of Erevis Cale. In the back of one of the newer novels it had a blurb about Cales son being a Paladin. I sense a very troubled person coming down the way. I for one can not wait for those novels. ![]() |

| #9suin_bahhar_02Mar 29, 2010 12:04:12 | Kemps sneak preview sample chapter is excellent. Vasen Cale is a shadeling, properly best represented statwise as a slightly beefed up shadar-kai or toned down shade. This thread needs more Swanland art though. ![]() Cale ![]() Magadon ![]() Not sure who this is, from the Halls of Stormweather novel. I imagine Riven used to look abit like so in his younger years, save for one eye offcourse. |
| #10LordManshoonMar 29, 2010 15:40:40 | Not sure who this is, from the Halls of Stormweather novel. I imagine Riven used to look abit like so in his younger years, save for one eye offcourse. That would be Thamalon Uskevren (the senior, not Tamlin), back when he was a young man; supposed to be taken from his flashback story. |
| #11strife026Apr 02, 2010 20:46:03 | Suin, the guy on the second book cover is actually Mephistopheles, not Mags |
| #12suin_bahhar_02Apr 03, 2010 9:19:53 | I always thought it was Mags during his less hinged period after he has absorbed the power of the half-psionic mythallar. Didn't Kemp describe Magadons horns growing because of it? But yeah, this guy looks a tad bit too buff for Mags, who is more of a stealthy archer type instead of a hulking melee brute so I guess your right. |
| #13LordManshoonApr 03, 2010 11:35:35 | I believe that while the figure is no doubt Mephistopheles, it's also intentionally supposed to make the mind turn to Mags as well, since part of the driving point of the novel is Magadon's fear that he's (figuratively) becoming his father. Just a thought. |
| #14strife026Apr 03, 2010 17:48:25 | I think LordManshoon has the right idea with what the artist was going for when he created the cover. The big difference that also helps to identify the character on the cover is the fact that he has wings. |
| #15creyzi4zb12Apr 03, 2010 19:29:24 | I think it really is Mephistopheles....can't be Mags, horns are too big. |
