I was wondering if anyone ran the loudwater campaign and if so what was the reason you gave the PC's to be there?

I'm currently running the Loudwater campaign and it's been pretty fun so far. My players have been doing rather well but the party's make-up is rather strange.

First we have a human Artificer from Waterdeep. His backstory is sketchy but since leaving the City of Splendors, he was just traveling and heard rumors of a rather potent alchemist in the town of Loudwater (the potions guy in town, can't remember his name) and so he's going to him to get some recepies and formulas to add to his own growing collection.

The second in the party is a changling Assassin who hails from the woodlands of the nearby High Forest. There, among the woodlands, is a small sanctuary of elite warriors who train in the arts of hired killers. This is where he is from and he's currently tracking a group of kidnappers and slavers throughout the area. He had heard there have been some disappearances from Loudwater and the other town close by (again, can't remember the name. Possibly Lorkh?)

The third is a elven Druid also from the High Forest that was stopping in Loudwater for supplies and to meet the fabled (at least, among her circle) human Druid of Silvanus. There, at this temple, she is supposed to commune with Silvanus to gain some insight as to her next assignment as she's somewhat listless in her goals in life.

The fourth is a revenant (human-past) Rogue who resurrected in a small graveyard just outside town. He's the only evil-aligned character in the group but he's been keeping that in check with a mostly good party. He's still clueless as to why he was brought back from the Raven Queen, but he knows he has a purpose. As the DM, I don't even really have a good reason why he's there other than because he wanted to play one. Still working on the in's and out's of that backstory.

Also, I have a DMPC since no one wanted to play a Defender. The first was a human Fighter (tempest) from Impiltur that is an exiled noble. He's pretty much just a sword for higher and is laying low in this backwater town because there aren't any Impiltur dignitaries in the region. The closest  two are Waterdeep and Cormyr's Suzail and he's slowly gaining allies to re-claim his noble status. Sadly, he was killed in the dungeons of the 1st adventure (mauled by Zombies) because he was poorly designed (AC of 17 for a defender is very, very bad). As his body was brought back to the temple to be brought back by the Silvanus druid/cleric the party picked up another character, an aasimar Paladin of Kelemvore that wanted to avenge their dead friend. When the party came back to town after clearing out the Ogre-King's Borrow they found that his body was missing.

I've more to impart but I'm at work and can't say more. Hope this helps some.

I ran this back when the FRCS came out and the campaign lasted over a year.  Started the PCs in Daggerford, down the river from Loudwater.  Did the FRCS goblin adventure just outside of Daggerford then moved the PCs towards Loudwater from there.

Along the way they dealt with a crazy winter storm, which lead right into the FR adventure from Dungeon a while back where you deal with a Ice-encased tower.

After that they were in Loudwater and things grew from there.

My old campaign notes are still online @ www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/sacredbl...
