Hey Gang,

been gone for a while (since Dec I think). What is the status of everyone's gaming? Still playing FR, reading novels, etc?

So long as there are published Realms materials, I will be playing/reading them.

Playing the first part of the Tearing of the Weave mega adventure with a moon elf ranger of Sehanine. It's a pretty tough journey. Next session is tonight.

Reading Reid's the Fractured Sky, enjoying the demonic/angelic cast. Just finished Scott-De Bie's Downshadow which is an absolute blast of a story.

Glad you liked it, incidentally.

Downshadow is one I recommend to any fans of paladins. Or for that matter Waterdeep, or small but spectacular stories in the Realms. I especially liked the ballroom scene. Full of both big and small surprizes.

Oh and by the by.. Last night our party got essentially TPK'ed...

Not playing any D&D right now... still weighing my options and seeing if 4e is worth investing in.

Still reading novels, but avoiding post-3e ones for the most part - I still have a rather large 'back-log' of unread older novels that will keep me busy for awhile.

It's funny, I remember "putting off" 3.5 for a good year or two before actually diving in and getting the books. It didn't feel worth it since it was just an update. Kinda prepared me for the whole 4th Edition thing, in that I wasn't going to jump in and just buy everything blindly.

So how does everyone feel about WOTC' stewardship of the FR in the recent novels and Dragon issues? (Bear in mind I haven't read any of the 4E novels yet so you might have to give context)

Any stuff you guys thought was really cool and/or lame? Any novels that reallyjumped out at you as great reads? Any articles spark your imagination?

Anyone heard what the future may entail for the FR? Might we see other FR stuff for 4E?

Hope to hear from you,

Monty

I've only read a few of the 4E novels. The Ed Greenwood Presents series is exceptionally well-written and provides a lot of updates of the Waterdeep locale and some familar characters. I won copies of Swordmage and Corsair, but haven't had a chance to really get into them yet.

As for products... None. All that is out (Player's Guide, Campaign Guide, the adventure) is all you're going to get for published material. Everything else is either through Dragon/Dungeon on DDi or the novels.
