Hello, I wanted to ask if anybody knew if there ever was a holy symbol of the Masked Lady described. I presume that she existed too shortly for a real integration of both aspects in the church and her priests used symbols of Eilistraee or Vhaeraun but maybe somebody else knows more?

AFAIK none is listed or mentioned, but the priestesses still used the silvere sword pins, while the ex-Vhaeraunians used their masks.

There isn't one, to my knowledge, but I get the feeling that if there was, it would have been an amalgamation of Vhaeraun's and Eilistraee's. Not that they really needed a new symbol, though, since most orthodox faithful of each deity believed the Masked Lady was simply their patron pretending to have absorbed the other.

-Edit: As an aside, I have a Faiths and Avatars style write-up for the Masked Lady, combining elements of Eilistraee and Vhaeraun's faith, coupled with the little smatterings from the Lady Penitent trilogy, that will be available from the Realms Vault soon.

Rather close to how I was imagining it, actually.

-Further proof that you might just, in fact, might be me. :P

Hey, I suppose that's why I'm a Hand in the first place.

On another, different note, I still have a sort of morbid curiosity about Vhaeraun's death. Lisa Smedman gave the awful, laughable deaths of Selvetarm and Kiaransalee (even if the latter's isn't really a "death") full attention. Vhaeraun leaps into a portal and supposedly gets ganked. I know it's for the best that she didn't mention how exactly Eilistraee did him in, but I still can't help but wonder. It would've been neat having a flashback in the third book showing some duel between the two, but I imagine if Lisa had given it full attention, it basically would have amounted to Vhaeraun jumping through the portal, finding Eilistraee, and getting split in half with one blow (or something as equally pathetic).

They didn't show Vhaeraun's death because he isn't dead.

As an aside, I've always hated 3e's rendition of Vhaeraun's holy symbol. It's ugly. No self-respecting drow would be caught dead using that anywhere and Vhaeraun sure as heck wouldn't let anyone associate something that doofy-looking with him.

You're damn right.

The doofiness is just a distraction. You see the image, you underestimate the threat behind it, you perish at the hands of the Vhaeraunites!

Great idea, LK. I'm waiting for it. As for the few new articles for Elves of Faerun.

As dead as a parrot, or so they say. It's not Leira we are speaking about here, but facts. Whether the ignorants amongst you want to hear that or not. :evillaugh

BTW, the mask presented in F&P looked ridiculous enough without the moon behind it.

It looks like the Bat Symbol. :D

I'd suggested adding a sword vertically down the middle, a bit more of Eilistraee's sword focus. Like the Shadow Thieves' symbol.

Ouch, Vhaeraun's holy symbol really looks ******, I guess Eilistraee didn't kill him, he died of embarrassment.:D I pictured it similarly to this:

IMAGE(http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/FR_ART/HolySymbols/Eilistraeesymbol.jpg)

Just with a masked Eilistraee wielding a silver sword and a black sword.:D

A writeup would really be cool.

With all due respect Lord Karsus, but...that thing looks like something out of Elminster's Underwear.:embarrass

Maybe, Vhaeraun's holy symbol with Eilistraee holy symbol super imposed over it?;)

Yes, because it's not like deities that have been slain haven't come back because of the will of the designers. Bane, anyone? True, Vhaeraun has almost no chance of returning, but all it takes is a few designers (maybe even just one really vocal guy) pressuring the others, and bam, Retcon claims another victory!:D

It's not Leira we are speaking about here, but facts.

Hmmm... Leira? Oh right, the one who was stupid enough to follow Mask like a little duckling, and ended up in Cyric's bowels after he murdered her and ate her soul. How could I forget? :P

Oh, and meager facts mean nothing in the face of the one true god:
