History
House Vrinn is a Drow noble House, coming from Ched Nasad, City of the Shimmering Webs.
For many years and even centuries, House Vrinn was one of the low-ranking Houses, far below the 12-seats Ruling Council. But at about 1295 DR, the House was ranked the 13th. It was only one place more to reach the council.
Then the trouble came. The House resurfaced again seven decades later, under a new Matron, to begin its rapid ascent to the position of power. By the time of the War of the Spider Queen, House Vrinn was ranked the 10th, having defeated three of the ruling Houses – Mylyl, Zuavirr and Hlaund.
As Ched Nasad crashed to the bottom of the cavern, House Vrinn was destroyed too. But its members survived and quickly began rebuilding the city.
Now, some nine decades later, House Vrinn is ranked the First, above Teh’Kinrellz and the descendants of the former ruling Houses, most notably Nasadra and Auvryndar.
The House compound has stayed where it has been for centuries, in the middle layers of the City of the Shimmering Webs. Its size and magnificence betray its status, though. On the balconies and around the towers, and in the front of the great gate, soldiers of the House Vrinn stand watch, in the light of many faerie fires, mainly green and scarlet ones.
The House has about two times the number of soldiers of any other noble household. But the power of the First House doesn’t lie with the soldiers and commoners; it lies with its leaders, and nobles.

Attitude: The House Vrinn hates the faerie elves with passion. They constatly fight to maintain their own position.
Organization: Strict
Regions of influence: the Underdark (Northdark), the North, the Sword Coast
Leadership: The Matron is the one and only leader of the House. Her Patron acts as a counsellor and is the first to blame for any misdeeds. The everyday affairs fall under the Elder Daughter, Vierna.
Recruiting: none, except the servants and slaves

Allies: The main ally of the House Vrinn was House Nasadra. After the subsequent fall of the former First House, the House has no great allies, because it doesn’t need them anymore. Other allies of the House are the Disciples of Pheltong, formerly led by the Archmage Ildibane Nasadra, and the Dragon Hoard, mercantile company under Nisstyre.
Enemies: The main enemies of the Vrinns of old were the Houses Mylyl and Zuavirr. Now its main enemy is House Teh’Kinrellz.

Joining House Vrinn: You can't join the drow noble house, you have to be born in one. But the House does accept the servants, assassins and whatsoever from outside.
Costs and Benefits of membership: The members of the House gain great power and influence in the dark elven society. Unfortunately there is no way to join the House. Unless, of course, you manage to get Vierna's (or one of her siblings') attention. If you are a servant, the cost is being constantly left to the whim of the nobles, and you're paid badly.

Classes: The nobles of the drow society are most often warriors and clerics. But some of them take another roads. Assasins, for example, can be hired by the House into their service.

Adventures
- The First House launches an attack on one of the poorer-guarded cities of Luruar, aka the Silver Marches. When the rulers of Silverymoon investigate into the matter, they discover that a drow noble House from below has struck.
- House Vrinn leads a raid on a small community of another race of the Underdark or even the dark elves. The refugees want to take revenge and arrive in Menzoberranzan, urging the Matron Mother of House Baenre to assault the City of the Shimmering Webs.

SiNafay Vrinn
Appearance and personality
SiNafay is a beautiful dark elven female with wavy white, shining hair and ink-black skin. On her head she wears a purple diadem, being a sign of her position. Under a beautiful robe, purple-black, she wears the silvery chainmail. She always has her black piwafwi cloak, and insignia round her neck, bearing the symbol of her House.
She’s slim and her whole body shows agility and flexibility, characterizing the best drow weapon masters. She hides a double sword under the cloak, which is named Qu’ilth, meaning „blood”, and a hand crossbow.
Only her eyes differ from that image. They are piercing and wise, but their colour is uncommon for a dark elf… they are green.
The dark elven female serves her goddess, the Spider Queen, faithfully and she loves to put herself above the others. She’s proud of her battle skills and she despises those less skilled. She reserves a special hatred for the faerie elves… and House Fey-Branche of Menzoberranzan. SiNafay is pragmatic and decisive, she takes her own way to reach her aims and there is not as much chaos in her, as in the other dark elves. Like every drow female, she scorns the males, and would happily take even the traditional positions of Weapon Masters from them.
The woman is calculating and cruel, her loyalty belongs only to Lloth. Thanks to the witty mind she spans intrigues often reaching out of her House, Underdark, and sometimes even Faerun. She’s a skilled diplomat and she plays on ever-present divisions. It is said she can pick out every lie. She doesn’t hesitate to show her anger in a violent way.
SiNafay is a skilled and cunning manipulator, she doesn’t hesitate from using her employers, children or even Solaufein. She has no qualms about betraying her allies or „friends”. The closest to that word are the other children of Ildibane, scattered around the whole Underdark of Faerun. Among them there are Alak Mylyl [LE drow male Ftr6/Rog3], Waerva Jae’llat, sister to her lover [CE drow female Clr10 Lloth] or Merith adopted to House Baenre [CE female drow Clr12 Lloth].
Many drow think she’s dangerously daring, but the dark elven female is self-confident and claims she understands the will of the Spider Queen, her mother. But no one is in the goddess’ favour for ever.
The dreams and omens govern the life of the mortal daughter of the Dark Mother. The drow female often hears the voice of her goddess in trance, and sometimes in the day too. Usually it changes her plans violently, sowing chaos into her quite calm life, for a drow. SiNafay is not afraid of being an emissary of the Mother of All Drow, and relaying her words – often bent to suit her plans. She can incur the wrath of some dark elves, or even powerful houses, with her unwavering faith. She openly manifests her independence.
The only weakness of SiNafay is her long-time lover, Solaufein. They are often seen together and it’s a common secret that by hurting him you can make a mortal enemy of her. Many males have tried to gain his position, but none succeeded. If she weren’t a drow you could even say she loves him…
SiNafay is the Matron of the House, as well as an adventurer. Solaufein staunchly supports her and serves as her constant bodyguard.

History
SiNafay was born in Ched Nasad, the City of Shimmering Webs, as a daughter of Chalinthra Vrinn (see Ched Nasad Portal). She spent her childhood on the streets of the city, and owes her life to she-drider, who raised her for unknown reasons. The amazing child gained not only the attention of the rulers of Ched Nasad. The female spent her adolescence in Menzoberranzan, first as a slave, and later as a free warrior. There her true ancestry was noted too…
The dark elven female is a daughter of Lloth herself, whose avatar has incorporated /replaced Chalinthra. The purple crown with the symbol of the Dark Mother is a sign of this. Owing to the House Baenre’s support the City of Spiders quickly took to call her dalharil lil Lloth, the daughter of the goddess.
Even being so closely related to the Mother of All Drow, SiNafay didn’t become a cleric. She was a witness to many historic events: Time of Troubles, the assault on the Mithril Hall or attack on Blingdenstone. Having been educated in the Academy of Tier Breche, she returned to the City of Shimmering Webs as an assassin, with her lover at her side and going to set up her own house.
She has done that, but this didn’t change her desire for adventure. She has even made her way to the surface and spent over two years there. Her House has survived the fall of Ched Nasad, despite the fact its manor had fallen.
The father of SiNafay (and not only her) was Ildibane Nasadra, the archmage of Ched Nasad, who has died during the fall.
The ultimate goal of SiNafay is to gain eternity in Demonweb Pits. If it is possible without insulting Lloth, maybe even become a deity.

Languages: elven, undercommon, common, abyssal, goblin

Hook: „I am dalharil lil Lloth! Worship the Spider Queen and bow to her daughter!”
Tactics: SiNafay tries to avoid combat, if she’s not sure of victory. She controls the conversation, not to lead to a losing situation. If she is forced to fight, she will hide in shadows and run away. One of her ways to avoid skirmish is an elixir of love. The drow uses it in conjunction with her personal charm, to fool the victim.
If she is confident, she will attack. Most often she attacks hidden, using crossbow and bolts coated in poison. When the enemies pinpoint her location or the distance is too small, she draws the double-bladed sword and attacks. She uses her drow abilities, which allow her to cheat many opponents or foresee the situation.
As opposed to many dark elves, she isn’t afraid of the light of the sun, though she is aware that she is weaker in it. She takes measures to lessen this discomfort. She won’t hesitate from fighting or meeting on the surface.

-Would you like to have this included in Elves of Faerûn? I included a sample Elven House, in House Tir'ent, so I should also feature a sample Drow House as well.

Sounds great.
I hasten to add that the other members of the House will be coming, they're all ready except Rizzen and Ryltar, but I've got some problems with translation.
I don't have English books. All I have ever done was to translate English material into my mother language. Having to do it the other way round is a bit harder.
I'm also planning to update the Elven Dualist when I have some time. I had it around on the Polish forum and I changed it a bit, got better opinions, so I'll have to do some translation again...

-Don't worry about English. I edit everything, so, regardless if you were from where ever or not, it'd be edited anyway. Alediran, one of the biggest contributors, is from Argentina, and speaks Spanish as his first language, so, it's all okay.

Thanks. I'll try to do it (see above). And I'll take a look at Alediran's work.

There's the Patron of the House.

Solaufein Jae’llat
Appearance and personality
Solaufein Jae’llat is a handsome dark elf with silvery hair and brown eyes. He wears a piwafwi cloak and a chain shirt and rich robes. In their nooks and crannies he keeps the spell components. The garments of the drow are kept in a way by a wide black belt with a silver buckle. The Patron is harmonious and quite muscular in build. In his arms lingers a surprising strength, enough to freely wield the sword worn in a scabbard on the belt.
The pride of his position can be noticed in the male’s behaviour. He doesn’t hide the fact, that he owes it to his talents… magical and other. He prefers to do than talk, though he is not completely socially lost. Rather you can say he knows his place and leaves the decisions to his Matron.
He is loyal and devout, doesn’t question SiNafay’s decision and he doesn’t comment some of her deeds. Only at the great (for him) errors he dares to voice his opinion. Solaufein is submissive to females and a little bit scornful for males.
He has some feelings only for his Matron and half-fiend children. When he is alone with SiNafay, he is found out to be much more open, even daring in saying his statements. With his daughters he’s silent and calm, but he doesn’t hesitate to order his sons around.
Solaufein as a glabrezu is a huge demon with brown-red, scaly skin. He still wears piwafwi cloak, which is short at his current size, and the chain shirt, suitable for the size. At his belt he has a huge bastard sword with a black blade. His eyes didn’t change colour, and his face spots a mane of silvery hair.
In the demon form the cruelty and chaos surface. You can feel greater humbleness in his behaviour, coated with a bit of revolt against the change. Glabrezu loves to inflict pain and spread fear, so he often shows himself at his mate’s side.

History
Solaufein was a son of the Third House of Ust Natha, House Jae’llat, and a master of a local Male Fighter’s Giuld. He took a bit of martial training there, but his magic skills showed up themselves. In his adolescence he secretly venerated Eilistraee, embittered by a relationship with a cruel priestess, Faere Despana.
His life was changed with a visit to Menzoberranzan. In the Academy, as a guest at the graduation ceremony there, he came to know his future Matron. The female seemed to grew a bit close to him. Soon their twin children were born.
Solaufein had followed his mistress to Ched Nasad, where he became the Patron of the House Vrinn. His loyalty to Lloth and her daughter could not keep him safe from the goddess’ intrigues. First he met Faere again at his return to Ust Natha. The rumour says that both of them were on the surface then.
Then the War of the Spider Queen and the end of his life came. His own daughter Triel has sacrificed him to the silent goddess. The death of her long-time lover was a shock for SiNafay and the reason, why she fervently sought the solution to the Silence of Lloth.
They were both rewarded, though not in the way they had imagined. Dalharil lil Lloth has retrieved her lover, and he regained his life… but not in the way they would want.
Solaufein returned after the War of the Spider Queen as a bebilith demon, quickly elevated to the rank of glabrezu. Thanks to the attendance of the Dark Mother in his change he kept his memories and magical skills – though they were changed a bit. Quite soon two new heirs to the House Vrinn appeared in the world – drow half-fiends.

Whats the elder boy situation? You have Solaufein as elder boy but then you have Dantrag listed as current elderboy which is counter intuitive. Can we assume Solaufein is dead?

Nevermind. I see the Unknown statis now. I must say though that the allusion to other famous drow is a little miss guiding. Here is a naming guide if you wish to give it a gander.

Well, the names are just ones that dipped into my head when I wrote my Polish fanfic. So the whole House Vrinn comes from it.
And I don't understand 'the famous drow'. What's this got to do with Drizzt?

I mean the famous drow as in the Drow everywere. The is not to specify one drow a group of drow. Famous ones in this case. Not really a problem though. I've done it acouple times when making Character backrounds and such for games.

Here is Viconia, the sister to SiNafay.

Viconia Vrinn
Appearance and personality
The drow female is beautiful according to human standards, but not in the eyes of her race. Her outlook and garb suggest she is a noble, and in Viconia’s melodic voice you still hear pride as she talks about her home city of Menzoberranzan. The dark elven female has, like most of her race, a black skin. She loves her shoulder-length white hair, held by a black, narrow band. Her eyes are light in colour, akin to lilacs, but they become nearly red in times of anger. Viconia is small and slim.
She regards the surface customs, despite some tens of years spent there, in the best case as non-understandable, most commonly as weird, and in the worst case as unnatural. She’s always wary, mistrustful and suspicious. She despises the surfacers, she doesn’t understand their hatred to the drow, but she’s sometimes its victim.
Viconia is bitter and grim, she never jokes, and only the death of enemies causes her to smile. She doesn’t hide pride of the fact who she is. She thinks herself better than everyone else, simply because she comes from the Illythiiri. She hates the elves, but is a cold pragmatist and won’t risk their anger. She is very attached to the drow legacy.
She prices her legacy very high and the resulting abilities too. She treats her opponents with despise and condescendence. Both her blows and tongue are merciless. During her years of loneliness on the surface and adventuring she has found many a time that the difference between life and death is sometimes very little.
She doesn’t speak about her past. Leaves an impression that she’s hiding something. Currently she is a fervent, nearly fanatic priestess of Lloth. She behaves like she wanted to erase past sins. She is still afraid about the Spider Queen’s wrath, and asked about its reasons she answers with an icy silence. She livens up a bit when Valas is mentioned. Never does she speak about him of her own free will though.

History
She was once a noble of House DeVir, the Fifth House of Menzoberranzan. Now her house doesn’t exist as a whole. As a daughter to Ginafae DeVir Viconia was partially responsible for the loss of Lloth’s favour of her house. It caused its fall at the hands of House Do’Urden many years after she had left Menzoberranzan. At that time her brother, Valas, the only person close to her, was transformed into a drider by a vengeful goddess too.
Having left the City of Spiders she has wandered around the Underdark. There the runaway has found solace in the nihilistic dogma of Shar. For a long time she was a priestess of the Lady of Loss, having left her homeland out of the fear from Lloth’s anger. She has wandered on the surface, mostly on the North and Sword Coast.
Her life was changed by a chance meeting with two adventuring drow. It happened in 1368 RD, in the Year of the Banner, and the elves, who exercised such a influence upon her, were the Dark Lovers: SiNafay Vrinn, dalharil lil Lloth, and Solaufein Jae’llat. The Spider Queen has caught up with the renegade again. Under the example of staunch faith of the denizen of Ched Nasad Viconia has made a crucial decision: she left the road of the self-destruction of the Mistress of the Night and she returned to the Mother of All Drow.
The fall of Ched Nasad and its rebuilding by the daughter of Lloth have given the longtime renegade the three things she had missed: House, richness and power. Being the Elder Sister, she is second only to her half-sister, Matron of the First House.

Viconia Vrinn: Female drow Clr16 Lloth, medium humanoid, CR 18, HD 16k8+16, hp 80, Init +9, Speed 30 ft., AC 24 (touch 18, flat-footed 19); Attack +17 ranged (hand crossbow 1k4/19-20/x2) or +18 melee (short sword +1 1k6+1/19-20/x2); SA rebuke undead 5/day, aura; SC drow traits, SR 27; AL NE, MRO Fort +11 Ref +10 Will +15, Str 10 Dex 20 Con 12 Int 14 Wis 18 Cha 14.

Aura (zn): Exceptionally strong aura of evil

Tactics: The drow female offsets her not imposing physical strength with cunning, wisdom and dexterity. Like most drow, Viconia wears light armor, that don’t hinder movement. She never is without a short sword and a hand crossbow. The drow has a wide array of clerical spells at her disposal, but her favourites are spells connected with darkness. In addition she always has at least one healing spell prepared.
She’s well aware of the fact that in melee fighting she doesn’t stand up to many enemies. So she uses her diplomatic talents and vast knowledge, to put away the skirmish in time. It allows her to plan the fight, often using her abilities – and the hand crossbow - in a witty way. Short sword is left for the live-or-die situations.
Hook: „Jal Khaless! My destiny awaits! Woe to the ones, who oppose me!”

Czarostwo +7

I could be wrong, but this doesn't seem like an english word :P

Anyway, drow get a +1 to their CR (not +2).

Sorry. My comp screwed up. Corrected it.
As for CR, I double-checked everything and I'm pretty sure it's +2.

-In Underdark, their CR is +2. In the Monster Manual (3.5e), their CR is +1.

Well, I've got 3.0 MM and a crappy 3.5 errata so I used Underdark CR ratings.
