Specifically, how does something like the executioner work? Can you have a rogue|executioner assassin?

I would suggest asking on the LFR boards.

That said, I don't believe that the LFR character creation guidelines currently include the Essentials classes so you're probably best off waiting for those to be posted.

Also, if you're talking a hybrid class (or even a multiclass) to the best of my knowledge there are no rules published so far for the Essentials classes.

In summary, wait for the Essentials hybrid multiclassing rules then wait for the LFR guidelines then try asking your question again and I am sure you will have more luck getting a solid reply.

As Imruphel stated, there are no rules yet for hybrid-Essential classes though I wouldn't be suprised if they were already in the works.

As for starting up an Essentials class in a LFR campaign, I don't see why that wouldn't work. All the classes in Essentials are compatible with previous classes save for some Multi-classing and Hybrid builds. Though You can still take Multi-class feats with Essential classes.

To give you an example, I re-worked my Paladin into a Knight class. My Knight took Student of Battle feat and gained the Inspiring Word power 1/day. Now, I can't take Novice Power or Adept Power feats because I don't have any encounter or daily powers to swap out. I can, however, take Acolyte Power and swap out one of my Fighter utility powers for a Warlords utility power of the same level or lower.

In addition to that, I didn't care much for the Stalward Knight paragon path in the Essentials book, so I took Sword Marshal paragon path from the Warlord class. It seems to work seamlessly. I did allow the Action Point power for the Sword Marshal (called Sword Marshal's Action) to include Power Strike as well.

As for your Rogue|Essassin, I'd wait until the hybrid rules come out OR go Essential Assassin (or Essassin for short) and Multiclass rogue. Though I'm not entirely sure why since most of the Rogue multiclass feats and paragon paths won't be that beneficial to an Essassin.

What sort of build are you going for?
