| #1drjugOct 21, 2008 15:36:44 | Ok, I am drawing out a house in the Menzoberranzan. They are the 9th house how many beings would live in the house? Would this be close(ish) 1 Matron Mother 4 Priestesses 2 Male Nobles (Mages or Soldiers) 10 Mages 100 Soldiery 1000 Slaves |
| #2phelf_der_zemitOct 21, 2008 17:22:21 | More drow soldiers. I'd say between 200 and 500. And your fodder should be higher as well. 1200 to a nice round and juice 2000. The number of priestess sounds about right but you might want to say one or two of them are the matron mothers sisters, leaving you with 2 actual daughters and then you can add an extra son to the mix giving you 2 mages and 1 fighter as nobles. |

Then daughters and sons of the Matron Mother (or her sisters)... and potentially daughters and sons to the daughters of the daughters (if the Matron is older) |

| #5maulornOct 22, 2008 8:30:28 | Some families are bigger...some are more powerful and have increased number of muscle in soliders or slaves...etc Really you setup is fine...do not worry about being right or wrong. |
| #6zananOct 22, 2008 9:59:47 | Simply go with the lore, in this case the Menzoberranzan box: House Tuin'Tarl - Ninth House of Menzoberranzan Nobles: 11 - Priestesses: 5 - High Priestesses: 4 House Males: 6 - Fighters: 2 - Wizards: 4 Drow Soldiers: 400 total Slave Force: 400 total (Menzo box, p. 57 of the Houses Booklet) That is not counting servants, craftsmen et al, unless they are slaves. |
| #7ZireaelOct 23, 2008 6:48:05 | The house Nurbonnis and one other were detailed in an adventure in the same boxed set. |
| #8markustay63Oct 24, 2008 0:29:48 | Sounds like an old Joke - How many Drow does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Anyway, it depends on the size of the House, and how crowded it was, and weather they were college kids trying to set a new record. And if Orcs are involved, you could easily double that amount... just run 'em through a blender first. :D |

| #10msatranOct 29, 2008 14:08:21 | As many as the Dungeon Master wants. If it's ten, it's ten. If it's ten thousand, it's ten thousand. Just make sure you have latrines for all of them. |
| #11ShiftkittyOct 29, 2008 14:35:39 | One of two 3d party books has a small chart for populating your drow house (sounds like bauhaus, eh?). It's either Plot & Poison or The Complete Guide to the Drow. You determine if your making a large, small, or medium house, and then you get like 2dwhatever members of the main family, so many more of the extended family, you also roll for servants, house guards, and your army, as well as actual employees, etc. I usually just use the 2e box set and pull an appropriate example to copy from when I need something in a hurry. |
| #12davesaundersOct 31, 2008 10:59:17 | I saw something online once when I was looking for an online dice roller. It was like some kind of computer program that gave you random Drow numcers like population and amount of money that they are worth and things like that. Sorry I cant remember the website. |

| #14drjugNov 02, 2008 12:44:39 | Hey, thanks for all the help guys! So I used Dunjinni and made this really awesome complex kick-a** house with all the soldiers and stuff. The PCs had bought a lot of information of Breagon'Dearth(sp?) and got a full glimpse of the formidable house. (They were tasked to bring the house down). Then when they found out how many soldiers they had, the PCs hitched up on a duegar trade caravan and just left the city. >< 6hours wasted... but I had fun making it so. |
| #15lord_karsusNov 02, 2008 21:13:02 | -You can always weave a plot such that the PCs have reason to somehow interact with said Drow. No reason to "throw away" your hard work and research. I wouldn't say immediately, but sometime in the future. |
