Most of the novels show the weave to be a system of shortcuts to access arcane magic and non weave magic the long form. With Magic Missiles starting to function more like its "Classical" form, this can be a starting point for the new weave and a indication of Mystra's rebirth. In the game world how do you transmit these magic updates to casters? Do you have your Wizards relearn the power via an NPC, or do they automatically just know the power works differently? Like to hear your thoughts. Thanks |

I take it as a sort of mini-retcon if it changes in some small way. But I think if you wanted to link Magic Missile's ability to auto-hit in your Realms game as a way to show the weave restoring itself and the possibly of Mystra coming back, it's a great idea and I think you should run with it. Also, I let my wizards have more than the standard allotment of utiliy, daily, and ritual spells than gained at each level. If the wizard in my party comes across a scroll of the above mentioned spell then I allow them to attempt to learn the spell as long as it's within their level. If it's not (say the spell level was too high), then it's too powerful and they can't learn or cast it. It definitly brings back the old wizard feeling and gives more weight and usefulness to their spellbook. |

You could even create a small adventure where the party helps the mentioned scholars and in return, perhaps they give the wizard the choice to learn how to cast magic missile in a different way. That way your player will update only if he wants to and you will have the adventure hook for future games. |

Very shortly, Mages will do their trade again they way they did before the Spellplague struck. A new era will begin... Mystra's way to rebirth and her re-intronisation into Godhood might be the main thing behind those strange happenings or re-occurences. If one want to extrapolate on the Realms, this could be that the weave is slowly being restored to it's former state, and thus Mystra, i don't know. |
