| #1telagauntJan 03, 2009 23:14:18 | And quite a bit not up to date with cosmology of the Realms/D&D etc... especially with 4E. Which is what my post is about. Now warning you, I bring this post up in the aftermath of reading Shadowrealm AND, I've been outta D&D for a little bit, just when 4E started coming about sooooo.... turn away if you hate spoilers. Ok now. How exactly does cosmology of D&D worlds fit nowadays. For example.... Shar... I don't just mean on Toril, I get that. But after reading Shadowrealm and I know, yeah she been around since the dawn of time, blah blah blah. Selune. W.e. She (and Mask) were worshipped on another world. I have several questions on this. BTW, I loved the book though. Ephyrtas w/e, is that a world IN 'Realmspace'? or even BIGGER? Meaning, Shar's influence is all over 'worlds' WITHIN Realms, or is it all over? For example, Eberron. Yeah, Shar isn't mentioned in that, but theoretically does/could she reach other campaigns? I saw on FR wiki that there's this thing for gods called, 'Spheres'? And Shar's is Shadow, and idk if that is just a 4E new thing, or something of 3E. But I guess my question is, how far does Shar, and certain other gods/goddesses of Faerun/Toril extend? Ao included. Liiiiike... is/could say Eberron be connected? Or does WotC draw the line at 'campaigns'. But that said, you think back to those 2E and 3E days of Mordenkainen travelling around and copyrighting spells everywhere and the old FR/Dragonlance crossovers also. I tend to babble a lot. So I think the gist of my question is, at least part of my question is, are the campaign lines interwined (even a little) or completely separate? And how do planes fit in? If say certain planes like the Shadow Plane or Astral Plane can connect to various worlds, is it worlds withIN the campaign or even other campaigns (I imagine it's largely DM regulated, but I guess I'm talking more.. 'fluff'). ![]() |

As far as I'm concerned, the FR gods can and probably do influence other planets. |

| #4quale1Jan 04, 2009 7:08:34 | Shar is a goddess of Realmspace, she was there from the start so it is very likely that she's worshipped on most other planets sometimes gods extend to other crystal spheres (i.e. Tyr, Lolth ...), and there they have to follow the local rules (in Realmspace Ao's, in other crystal spheres it's unclear what, but not Ao's) we don't know whether Shar is worshipped in other universes, probably not, she's not a race-creator god like Corellon, she doesn't have colonists, she seems only concerned with her own crystal sphere In 3e everything was connected through the Plane of Shadow, it's speculated that there are parts of Shadow that aren't parallel with the Prime, called the Deep Shadow (similar to the Deep Ethereal), once you pass through it you could end up in the Shadow coexistant with e.g. Eberron. Eberron has completely different cosmology, tough it has the Plane of Shadow, and Sigil has portals to everywhere In 4e, I don't know, it mentions phlogiston in FRCS, MotP mentions the possible existance of the crystal spheres |

As far as I know AO is only the overgod of the Realms. However, you could make him the overgod of the whole multiverse if you wanted to. |
