| #1kinezosJun 26, 2008 13:23:32 | i've started writing a novel and i wanna place it in faerun. the adventure begins and ends in a big forest with lots of monsters that use music as a weapon, such as satyrs... i would like a suggestion about the location, plus a metropolis that would be "near". i've played this adventure as a player and it was amazing!great things happend!but it was in an imaginary world.i believe that it would be excellent in faerun because we where all ispired by faerun. i'm new in the forum and i just found out that faerun moves forward through this forum and as title says i need info about what happens now plus some older news. keep in mind that i dont know anything about this "plague" so if u have the time help by posting. for any help i would be thankfull! |
| #2nymrohdJun 26, 2008 13:30:11 | High Forest and Silverymoon would be the classic fantasy choice. I also would like the Forest of Lethyr with Uthmere (for a more rustic city) or Telflamm (if looking for a more shadowy city). The Chondalwood and Arrabar would be nice if you want a city with political intrigue. Of course the King's Forest and Arabel could also fit for again a classic fantasy choice. These would be my suggestions. Now if you want details on all of the above, I can probably refer you to books. |
| #3kinezosJun 26, 2008 14:14:02 | thx very much!!!!!i'll search them all.please send me the refers when you can. but what happens now in faerun?where i can get that info, all together? |
| #4nymrohdJun 26, 2008 14:30:03 | Well we don't know;) the new 4E campaign setting will be out in August and since it features a 100 year time leap any information I can give you will only be of use as background, especially since all of the above locations have developing storylines in 4E. If you are modeling things for the 4E you should wait for the new setting. |
| #5kinezosJun 26, 2008 14:48:37 | no 3.5 do u believe that Forgotten Realms Campain Settings 3 is enough?because i dont wanna write stuff that wont fit with the rest of the writers. plus i want to set the time.i can write "it is winter" or summer and not telling which year ,to the readers , but i must know. my basic question is... for example : Salvatore writes that the orcs attack Mithril Hole and its a fact. or wizards post the fact and he writes about it??? |
| #6nymrohdJun 26, 2008 15:08:34 | Well Salvatore has a rather loose policy about following lore. Most novels though follow directives by the wizard's developing team which often dictates what the outcome of novels will be since they are to be incorporated in lore. |

| #8xhereticxJun 26, 2008 18:20:42 | i've started writing a novel and i wanna place it in faerun. the adventure begins and ends in a big forest with lots of monsters that use music as a weapon, such as satyrs... Best place to set it is the Sword coast, and the best way to learn about the Sword Coast is to play the Baldur's Gate and NWN games.;) |
| #9nymrohdJun 26, 2008 18:23:00 | I really wish 4E gives us some more information about the Sword Coast and the Western Heartlands. |
| #10merrikcaleJun 27, 2008 8:42:52 | I really wish 4E gives us some more information about the Sword Coast and the Western Heartlands. what makes you think they won't? |
| #11nymrohdJun 27, 2008 8:44:18 | Nothing? Stop being so suspicious![]() |
| #12kinezosJun 28, 2008 7:02:41 | -Note that WotC does not accept unsolicited novels when sent to them for any kind of consideration, if that is your intent. ok i believe this is good. a random writter like me cant use their signature. but whats needs to be done to change that? i write the novel send it to them and we change things?i tell them the basic idea and they tell me what to write?or they ignore me cause i use 3.5 rules? ![]() plus thanks everyone for posting...;) |
| #13lord_karsusJun 28, 2008 9:36:33 | ok i believe this is good. a random writter like me cant use their signature. -A random writer like you cannot use any of their intellectual property legally, and hope to see publishing, right. but whats needs to be done to change that? -Nothing. They don't accept unsolicited ideas. |
| #14merrikcaleJun 28, 2008 10:16:34 | In other words, don't write if the idea is to get them to publish it |
| #15lord_karsusJun 28, 2008 10:50:41 | In other words, don't write if the idea is to get them to publish it -Right. If it's for your own kicks and giggles, go ahead. But, if your dream is to write something, send it to WotC, get published, and become a famous author, don't count on it. |
| #16merrikcaleJun 29, 2008 22:14:20 | -Right. If it's for your own kicks and giggles, go ahead. But, if your dream is to write something, send it to WotC, get published, and become a famous author, don't count on it. Do they solicit short stories? I know they don't accept novels |
| #17lord_karsusJun 29, 2008 22:23:14 | Do they solicit short stories? I know they don't accept novels -Nope. No unsolicited anything. They only accept things when they announce casting calls. |
| #18merrikcaleJun 30, 2008 18:17:48 | how about dirty limericks? |
| #19lord_karsusJun 30, 2008 21:28:28 | how about dirty limericks? -I think people might send those to them regardless. |
