| #1kingkalakAug 17, 2008 0:42:18 | Can anyone help me out, by clairfying a few rules about Spellfire for me? 1) What happens if a Spellfire Weilder gets hit with a mordenkainen's disjunction. 2) What happens if a Spellfire weilder gets hit with a anti magic ray spell. 3) If a creature such as a drow had Spellfire, does he have to supress his own magic resistance to use it? If someone directs a anti magic ray at him, would he still get a magic resistance roll? |

A Spellfire wielder (as defined in Magic of Faerun) can not have stored levels of magic affected by a Dispel type effect, but if he/she uses that spellfire, the effect can be countered by dispel magic, or any device that affects spell-like abilities (i.e. wand of negation). As for whether a spellfire wielder could absorb the stated spells, I believe they can, as long as they were targeting the wielder, and not any carried items. As for the Drow, I don't recall if anything with spell resistance can voluntarily reduce it's SR. And might I just say... A drow with spellfire, by the gods, the Simbul was concerned with a young blonde girl with that much power, imagine how freaked she and the other chosen would be to find one of the Drow running loose with it. |

I just wandered what would happen in those situations, because I was not sure if a Disjunction would negate a spellfire weilder, of if they would simply absourb it. It would seem that a spellfire weilder is pretty much invincable. |

Nope, you have three options with a spellfire wielder, sneak attacks, attacks with non-magical weapons, or overwhelming force, since they can only absorb so much, and then they are affected by any incoming spells. |
| #5kingkalakAug 17, 2008 1:20:06 | But if you attack them with magic, they can just absourb it, and if you hit them, they will just keep healing. |
| #6naexAug 17, 2008 1:30:58 | But if you attack them with magic, they can just absourb it, and if you hit them, they will just keep healing. They have a limit on how much they can absorb/store (base is a number of levels equal to their constitution), and they have to use an action to heal, as well as using spellfire up, and only 2 hp for every spellfire level used, so unless they have a very high constitution, and have been absorbing spells for a while, they can't heal all that much damage at a time. Since they can only absorb so much, a group of mid-level spellcasters hitting them with a barrage every turn will eventually harm them. Even with a con of 18, it means that if hit by 4 6th level spells in a row, without the spellfire wielder getting a chance to discharge any stored energy, 1 spell gets through. Add in a few fighter types swinging at them as well, and down they go. |
