| #1shades_of_eternityOct 14, 2008 16:07:59 | like the message says, I thought it was one of the more original concepts in the realms and was hoping it would eventually grow into it's own theocracy based on lovitar. I guess my question is 1. How would you treat the crinti as a race? 2. How can we develop a return to this concept. |
| #2StiggerOct 14, 2008 16:57:41 | I'd rather have Luiren back myself, but... Mostly I'd just treat the Crintri as half-elves, maybe with access to a drow racial feat or two if you really felt a need to seperate them. Then again, are half-elves even in 4e? Don't recall offhand actually... presumably they are, or at least will be at some point. As to how to return to it... not sure what you're asking there. Pesonally I'd just take the fluff from something like 2e or 3e's Shining South supplement, make a few mechanical alterations to update it to 4e, reduce or remove Lolths influence as much as desired from the fluff, and go from there. It already was pretty much a Loviatan theocracy for all intents and purposes really, just with owing fealty to a Lolthan theocracy in turn. Make up some stuff that happened with the Spellplague and the century of time that passed that you thinks makes sense and which gets you to the point where you think things should be, and you're done. |
| #3lord_karsusOct 14, 2008 17:01:22 | -Yeah, I'm not exactly getting you, either. If you don't want it to change, then don't change it. Treat it as if it never changed in your own games/mind. If you refuse to accept it, it can not gain any power over you. ;) |
| #4markustay63Oct 15, 2008 16:59:32 | I hear you - they took what was possibly one of the most original regions of the Realms and demoted it to wallow in a sea of mediocracy. ![]() Thank God most of the Crinti fled south to the Corsair Islands. :P |
| #5christopher_roweOct 15, 2008 22:18:33 | Thank Gog most of the Crinti feld south to the Corsair Islands. :P Heh. I think most of the Crinti got caught between the "cold and deadly welcome" of the T'lidnhet drow and about five hundred years worth of payback courtesty of the Arkaiuns. |
| #6markustay63Oct 15, 2008 23:30:52 | Well... yeah... thats what really happened... But I was providing an 'out' for people who still wanted to use that culture somewhere in 4e. After all, they are not really all that far away. ;) |
| #7StiggerOct 16, 2008 0:25:28 | Think I prefer Markus' version of events... well, after the idea of the Crintri handing the drow their heads, putting down the rebellion, and sticking those Arkaiuns back in their lowly place where their belly-crawling selves belong. |
| #8ZireaelOct 16, 2008 4:24:36 | I agree with LK. |
| #9markustay63Oct 16, 2008 18:06:38 | Think I prefer Markus' version of events... well, after the idea of the Crintri handing the drow their heads, putting down the rebellion, and sticking those Arkaiuns back in their lowly place where their belly-crawling selves belong. See, I actually like it better that they were ousted from Dambrath, if for no other reason then to make it different from what we had before (which is the whole idea behind a new edition). Now, if you like the 3e world, then play in the 3e world, by all means (I still do), but having it stay the same for another hundred years is a bit... boring. Although what they came up with was even more boring - just another human nation with nothing to make it stand out. ![]() Anyhow, I like the idea of the Crinti becoming pirates (visions of Jarlaxle-style rogues swim through my head) in the Corsair Islands. They'd adopt the local customs and dress (Lolth is already openly worshipped in parts of Zakhara, as Lotha), so you could just picture Drow meets Sinbad the sailor, in silken pantaloons and flashing scimitars. Its all good. :D |
