I posted this originally in Running the Realms, but Karsus suggested it should be here, so I'll repost.

for those already running a game: what interactions with Returned Abeir do you have with the Faerun mainland? as you noticed in a different thread, I'm trying to place a campaign in the realms. How well should the new continent interact with the old one?

Is trade between them regular or is Abeir basically isolated? Do the small kingdoms in Abeir have interactions with Tymanther or Akanul or Calimshan? Does Amnian trade reach that far?

I'm looking to start a Realms game specifically because I want to use the Realms Backgrounds and the feats from Dragon. One of the better places to *set* my game is Eskhorn, in Returned Abeir. But whats the likelyhood of people from all over the rest of Faerun being in Abeir, even 100 years after the Spellplague brought it over? in the FRCG, Returned Abeir looks rather like someone else's campaign world dropped wholesale into the Realms with little interaction with what went before.

Not running any 4E but...

Returned Abeir will likely be within the reach of several kingdoms with strong navies in the Realms, sailing from ports including Waterdeep, Baldurs Gate, Amn, Calimport and Hlondeth. Several organisations might have taken interest in the potential new resources and markets especially the Rundeen, the mercantile Red Wizards, the Shadow Thieves*, The Kraken Society* and the Iron Throne. *(did they survive the 100 year leap anyway?)
