Ok I'm hearing a lot about what happens in FR, however I'm curious which gods are still alive.

Is Bane still around?

Where can I read this info? Is it in an adventure or a series of novels?

Thanks

-Is Bane currently alive? Yes. His stats, and assorted information about him can be found in Faiths and Avatars and Faiths and Pantheons.

-Will Bane be sticking around for 4e? Yes, yes he will. However, we don't know in what capacity, or anything else about the future. Thus, we are going to have to wait for 4e to get the full scoop.

Ok thanks.

I know of his status as of 3.5 (as I have played in 3.5 and also play NWN online). I am curious though where the best place is to seek out this information on the upcoming 4th ed FR.

Is there a series of novels I should be reading? What about some adventures that lead up to the end of 3.5 Realms?

As Lord Karsus said, no more information about Bane in Realms-2008 is yet available. There's apparently a piece on the pantheon deformation coming up on Wizards.com.

Paul Kemp's Twilight War novels, Lisa Smedman's Lady Penitent novels, and the Cormyr/Shadowdale/Anauroch trilogy of adventures lead up to Realms-2008, but aren't concerned particularly with Bane.

-Asides for the novels Faraer mentioned, there are, as of right now, three on-line DRAGON articles concerning the 4e Forgotten Realms that can be found on the WotC website. A Grand History of the Realms, a physical sourcebook, also provides some insight into the last days of the 3e Forgotten Realms, up to 1385 DR, when the Spellplague that changes everything begins. I you do not already have it, I suggest you pick it up.

Thanks again for the input. Once I dig out of the snow I might go shopping.

He's around but not the god of strife anymore...

Seems he was trying to force Talona into a prearranged marriage and was having Malar "persuade" her into accepting it. But, Loviatar lied to Bane saying Malar was putting the moves on his "beloved" soon-to-be bride so, in a jealous snit-fit, Bane kills Fzoul for not watching the proceedings better. So Ao, seeing as how Fzoul made a better god of strife than Bane but not feeling like adding another recent mortal to the pantheon (especially after having such a time trying to decide which dieties is included in the 10% survivor list), he "imports" and makes ME...Stryfe...the new god of Strife

And since I'm human, AND a human god, I can even be an Aspect of myself and it still all works out in the end ;)

I do! And a friend of mine was glad he bought it at amazon, because when you order online, you can give anything back within two weeks without a reason.

Speaking of Bane, any word on the possible status of Fzoul in 4E? I didn't see anyone speculating on his whereabouts in the NPC thread.

Considering Bane's moved to the core set of gods, I'd certainly hope he's still in FR.

-And, did he return said book?

-There's no reason he wouldn't be. Deities can be multiplanar.

First post--thanks all for keeping me entertained over the last few weeks as I try to dig around for more info on this 4th Edition Realms stuff.

"Undead," the second book of the Haunted Lands trilogy--same one that alerted me to the upheaval in the Realms--touches on Bane and his dealings during the SpellPlague. Suffice to say, it pretty much suggests that he will be present in the 4th Edition and with his hands into other things than just the working of Zhents.
