| #1motteditor2Aug 04, 2010 1:23:12 | Had a thought for a new character for a 3.x Forgotten Realms campaign: A completely paranoid conspiracy freak (I've always been a fan of mixing genres). Just thought I'd get some ideas for potential conspiracy theories from some other gamers. He's the type who'll only drink out of his own wineskin and will switch plates with his dinner companions ... unless he's aware that you would know that he'd do that. I'm thinking halfling (or maybe a gnome?), though no clue on class right now. I play rogues a lot, so sort of want to branch away from that, though it seems like it would be somewhat of a natural class choice. Anything's game: * Elminster was captured by githyanki (or is it githzerai, or a rare gith-gith alliance ... ?) and a doppelganger, controlled by the Harpers, is currently posing as him in an effort to keep the Zhents and other dangers at bay. * The dwarves are right; trees really are out to get us, specifically a plant army formed by the Treaty of Treants in 1303 that's waiting to strike out from Aglarond. * King Azoun IV wasn't really slain by the red dragon. He's traveling anonymously in the Tuigan wasteland, where he plans to create another horde, but this time to be used to destroy such forces as the Zhents and Thayans. * The Harpers? (looks around, then whispers) They're watching. Always watching. |

One of my friends played a similiar concept once in a FR game except without the parnioa. He is currently at GenCon though so I am out of touch but when he gets back I'll see if he remembers any of the character's pet thoerys...or maybe even just direct him to this thread. But...a easy way is to take all the conspiracey theories about the Free Masons and just insert the Herald into their place. |
| #3The_SilverswordAug 05, 2010 3:24:50 | The Harpers are merely a secret branch of the Black Network who are really working for the Shades, everybody's workin with the Shades, EVERYBODY!!! The destruction of Zhentil Keep was just a cover. |
| #4gomeztooAug 05, 2010 4:22:10 | Aren't the Malaugrym controlling the shades? And the Malaugrym are really being manipulated behind the scenes by the Phaerimm, who are really just mutated Aboleth overlords... |

I thought we were supposed to be going for far fetched conspiracy theories? That one actually makes alot of sense! |
| #6StiggerAug 05, 2010 8:57:47 | You know, it kinda does... ![]() |

No that is just what the Shadow Council of Halfling Overlords wants us to believe...think about it...they cling to everyone elses society...control the agiculture...many thieves guilds are also run by them...also you ever wonder why a race of 'pleasent' farmers favored class is Rogue...which really know is just the SCHO enforced PC thought control....is also Thieves...why would farmers need all those sneak attack dice? Or such high stealth rolls? Or be able to remove those complex traps? I don't know any cabages that need to be assassinated( the true defination of what sneak attack is). Any way beware of SCHO....beware the hairy feet sticking out from under you window curtains...beware those 'changlings' who pretend to be our children to victimize us...BEWARE THE HALFLINGS. Wow I had fun writting that...by the way that was all my off the cuff of my head...still have not got in contact with my friend who played a similiar character. |
| #8motteditor2Aug 05, 2010 11:29:14 | Nice, John, though I have to disagree at one point. I think most cabbages could be assassinated without anyone complaining. |
| #9johnkretzerAug 05, 2010 16:44:26 | Nice, John, though I have to disagree at one point. I think most cabbages could be assassinated without anyone complaining. Sigh another person caught up in the propaganda of SCOH. ;) |
| #10gomeztooAug 06, 2010 2:57:33 | Beware the mutated killer cabbage! |
| #11johnkretzerAug 06, 2010 11:25:36 | Beware the mutated killer cabbage! That is just more propganda from SCOH...I made those so the cabbages could defend themselves from those ever hungry halfling foul mouths. I mean why do they need all that food...they are soo small. But that reminds me of another thing that all Reams folks need to know about...Shadow Weave Crops. It is a insideous plot by those forgeiners Shades. They raise crop using the shadow weave to poisons the descent gods fearing folk of the Realms with that taint. It will turn a perfectly normal person into one of thems slave race things they keep around... |
| #12suin_bahhar_02Aug 07, 2010 8:45:13 | Ah, this is an excellent thougt experiment! I think half of Fearuns population is at least a little bit paranoia. With all the hostile beings around its easy to scare the common man. *Shield Dwarves are closing in from underneath! Since the Thunder Curse the stout folk have been tunneling under every major city in the North, and they will control a towns collapse as long as the town plays nice. As soon as the greedy dwarves are slighted they will collapse the "WHOLE NORTH" into its darkest depths! *The Merfolk are planning a major flood! When was the last time you saw one, aye? They are up to something, I tell ye. If ye don't drown ones last-born to the waves next harvest season them salty people will bring about a massive waterwave that will be the last flood this area here will see... forever. *Ever been to "Does and Drinks", that taproom is run by vampires. Bloodsucking monsters, I swear! Their prices are really low, yesteryears prices even... But they only open when the sun doesn't shine, and their doors and windowshutters are firmly barred during the day. It's not natural! *Don't eat travelling rations! The halfling cooks that make it have placed in a secret ingredient that makes your mind numb. As soon as you have eaten more than a handfull you'll start to fail at noticing when someone lifts your pockets, or eavesdrops on your secrets or performs other evil schemes Hin are wont to do... *The local major is bewitched by Fey! I have seen him offer small tokens to the woods at night! He must have been charmed by some Dryad as he talks to trees! Don't speak to him about it because he will have ye removed by "woodland accident" by his ghostly forest allies! 'Ole Bedron could tell ye, If he was still here. Fell while boarhunting they say. Nay! He got slain by a 'shifted elf! *Moles are the scouting force of the gnome maffia. Trained in sabotage and stealth, they have been eavesdropping on your plans for the last few years. They sabotage good farmcrops and mess up tilled land to spite Chauntea's and good farmerfolks work. The gnome maffia are out to control all turnip business and don't hesitate to go all the way... |
| #13johnkretzerAug 07, 2010 16:17:06 | Here is one of my favories dealing with dwarves that I came up awhile ago... Now as any lewarned sage will tell you that the dwarves used Deepspawn to mass produce dwarves in one of their inter racial wars that they fought among themselves...this is why most dwarves look exactly the same. They are working of a handful of copies(or I'll use the word clones as it is similiar to the spell)...even the females look like males. But here is the kicker...it looks like the dwarvern elders have decided to go back to this...that is right my friends the so called Thunder Blessing is really just the dwarves feeding their newborn babies to a deepspawn and getting two. Oh they will dress it up as this big act of their gods(as if they exist at all) but it is much more insideous than that. They are of course plotting to take over the world with their unlimited supplies of clones....I urge all dwarvern mothers who read this not to let them take away your child to become deep spawn food...fight this with all of your might... (I like to call this conspiracey theory...Attack of the Clones FR style.) |
| #14johnkretzerAug 08, 2010 22:22:04 | You know with all the actual secret organizxation out there in the FR...I think conspiracey nuts would be common. I mean we have a city rulesd by a group of completely secretive goverment...(though they might have changed that in 4th ed Realms)...but that alone would get people doing casuel speculation...now take a nut...and see all the wonderful theories you can spin. I wish this thread got more traffic as there are alot of funny ideas and creative ideas... |
| #15sfdragonAug 08, 2010 22:33:42 | Beware the mutated killer cabbage! they would be those who harp |

LOL I have a character like that. . . . a 9 year old cleric of Pelor who got dragged into a group including: an elf who is obsessed with his catapult, a sorceress/chosen of shar who has a knack for blowing things up, a clueless swordsman, a lawful good cleric who is easily manipulated by the chosen of shar into believing that they are the 'good guys'. and a cynicle half-fiend who thinks they're all idiots. . . . . this poor kid thinls everyone is trying to kill or decieve him |
