Hi!

I'm starting a FR campaign and I've had some trouble figuring out the current state of events in 1479.

One player just came in with a Drow Rogue. All I wanted was a standard campaign with some characters who would not rise anger among laymen, but life is tough. Anyway: he's a male from one of the lesser houses of menzoberranzan, working at the assassin-bounty hunter concept. He's a traitor from Menzoberranzan who fred a Jaezred Chaulssin being held captive at house Baenre (I know this is pretty much megalomaniac for a 1st level player, but I dislike the idea of portraiting myself as a naysayer DM).

So, he fred this jaezred chaussin guy who decided to get him to Chaulssin and introduce him as an "assassin trainee" of sorts.

The half-shadow-dragon-drow was ambushed in the way to Chaulssin and for that, alone in the road, our valorous roguish traitor joined the group of adventurers and the campaign.

Theres a very small entry in FRCG 4e about the group of assassins, mostly talking about his relationship with Ched Nasad. It so happens that the player is from menzoberranzan. I'm thinking about ruling he's being held at baenre dungeons as some sort of POW from the masked lord events, decades ago. But, for the development of the game, I need to know:

* What's the current (1479 Dale Reckoning) instance of menzo drows, baenre crew specially, towards Jaezred Chaussin?
* Is there any reason to believe one of these assassins would take one rescuer neonate drow from menzoberranzan to chaussin in order to make him join the club?
* What about playing a drow in the 1479 north (llorkh region atm)? Shot on sight? I had a satyr conceal him as a sun elf, but it wont go far and I hate copying salvatore stuff. Damn, we already had a minotaur barbarian. Wish things could go a little more orthodox.

Thx all in advance.

Yeah im guessing that the Drow of Menzoberranzan dont particularly care for the Jaezred Chaussin, but individual Drow may seek them out to hire them to take out a rival or somesuch, of course this would be kept on the downlow, of course its really up to you as DM.

Well theyre a group of Drow/Shadow Dragons, so no I wouldnt see them letting any one into the group who doesnt have some Dragon blood in them, but again your DM its up too you, they may ally with normal Drow and other races for particular jobs here and there, so the Drow in your game might be on friendly terms with them, perhaps even receiving some training or something, but I wouldnt see him as being a card carrying member of the Jaezred Chaussin.

A single Drow, I dont think would be shot on sight, especially if theyre traveling in the company of other races. People, especially in the North, have heard the tales of Drizzt, and know not all Drow are evil. Now a whole band of Drow, sneaking about at night would definitely raise suspicion.

Hope that helps some. Sounds like an interesting game you got goin on. And nothin too unorthodox about a Minotaur Barbarian, now a Minotaur greeter at Wallmart would be a little unorthodox.

Seeing as what went on during War of the Spider Queen, Baenre likely stillhold shostile feeloings vs the Jaezred Chaussin. Other houses may or may not care.
That said, the Chaussin are likely low on the Menzo's priority list.
The Chaulssin may use non-dragon blooded drow to act as spies. However, those are likely dupes - so yes, you can go ahead and roll with it, but I think it should be fair to inform the player that his PC is being played, and that he can expect a knife in the back any time...
Note that it is also quite posisble that Baenre 'allowed' the escape. They maye have trace on the PC, and a wizard (under orders of Gromph) may be tracking him, so that, should the drow manage to get inside Chaulssin, they may strike whenever they wish.
