| #2SoulCatcher78Aug 28, 2008 19:16:57 | Haven't seen anything but I can forsee all sorts of avian related jokes should they do so. You stay here and guard the eg...er treasure and we'll go get the horses. I don't mind the idea of monsterous PCs (especially now that we have entire regions dominated by monsterss) but I'm not sure I could take a bipedal bird guy seriously. Oh well, anythings possible and it'll probably be a DDI article on running a monster campaign or something (hope they don't waste the space in the FRPG for that). |

| #4fodiggAug 29, 2008 9:59:04 | I checked the 4E Monster Manual...couldn't find them in there. I might have to. I like the idea of humanoid corvids. They are very intelligent birds. I also wanted Thri-Kreen, but no more Shining South. |
| #5Mr_MiscellanyAug 29, 2008 21:54:12 | I think it would be awesome to have a DDI article in Dragon Magazine that discusses the various races that are found in the monstrous kingdoms in the Forgotten Realms (beyond the Dragonbor, etc...that are already in print) and gives players game stats and tips on how to play them. |

This branch of the Aearee were noted Arcanists who often summoned Djinni and were the first to create Mythallars. They also survived the harsh winters early in their rise to power by burrowing into the depths of the Earth and finding warmth first in Volcanoes then the Underdark. During their height the Aearee-Quor consolidated into a more direct empire as they fell to worship of the Demon Lord Pazrael(Pazuzu) then turned upon the other two branches of the Aearee. A small portion of them resisted this lure and fled to the east of Kara-Tur, becoming the Tengu. The rest of the Aearee-Quor lost their natural ability of flight in their bids for power. After devastating wars with their neighbors and largely cleansing themselves of their demonic influence, the Aearee-Quor were eventually devastated by the first Flight of Dragons. The first Dragon kingdom was founded upon the remains of the greatest Aearee-Quor city-state. The Aearee-Quor fled deeper into the Underdark and devolved over time into the Dire Corbies. The Dire Corbies are aggressive evil avian humanoids devoid of flight and feathers. They possess only a down covering their skin. At some point, a group of the now flightless Aearee-Quor prayed for redemption and divine direction. These were guided east into Kara-Tur to their Tengu cousins and became the Kenku. My personal guess is that Kenku migration happened before the Dire Corbies formed. My suspicion is that the Kenku largely represent the form that Aearee-Quor possessed from the point of losing natural flight. After living among their Tengu cousins in Kara-Tur the Kenku have since spread back further into Faerun. It also seems possible (though not hinted at anywhere) that various Aearee-Quor remnants had survived as they could in various southern locales, and became known by the more common name of Kenku once their "redeemed" cousins migrated back westward. The Kenku within Tethyr could be one such place. Kenku are conniving and selfish. They reside in many urban areas especially the East of Faerun and have a sizable population in Zazesspur on the coast of Tethyr. The young are forced to leave the nest to make their own way in life, yet work greatly together and usually form small bands of like minded kenku of the same age. Many take up roguish professions, though wizardry and cult worship of Pazuzu are not unheard of. I haven't had a chance to browse through the 4E FRCS yet so do not know what is mentioned about the Kenku there. Anything interesting? As for 4E stats, there are currently none. The 3.5 stats were in the Monster Manual III. Here is my rough take on doing their stats as a PC race in 4E. Show Kenku Average Height: 4'10" - 5'2" Average Weight: 65-85 lb. Ability Scores: +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence Size: Medium Speed: 6 squares Vision: Low-Light Languages: Common Skill Bonuses: +2 Bluff, +2 Stealth Kenku Opportunity: When you are flanking an enemy, you gain a +1 racial bonus to attack rolls against that enemy. Great Ally: You can use great ally as an encounter power. Great Ally Kenku Racial Power You distract your foe with a deceptive feint, leaving your foe open to your allies Encounter Minor action Close Burst 5 Target: One creature in burst Attack: Dexterity +2 vs. Will, Intelligence +2 vs. Will, Charisma +2 vs. Will Increase to +4 bonus at 11th level and +6 bonus at 21st level. Hit: Until the end of your next turn, the target grants combat advantage to each of your allies. Special: When you create your character, choose Dexterity, Intelligence, or Charisma as the ability score you use when making attack rolls with this power. This choice remains throughout your character's life and does not change the power's other effects. |

| #8colmanSep 02, 2008 10:58:40 | I would have liked to have geared the Kenku towards infernal pact Warlocks but a Constitution bonus seemed against theme and type. You could simply relabel the infernal pact to get a new, dex based, pact. |
| #9bojangles_the_barbarianSep 10, 2008 10:17:26 | Wizardmon's Kenku Siberys@Enworld's Kenku Made about 2 months ago, these are pretty good conversions keeping a bit more in line with their original fluff (Mimicry for instance). Your's has a few striking similarities, but Mimicry is something lacking. While I'd agree most of Wizardmon's work is concise, Siberys is a little more in depth this time, as it has feats already laid out and has a concrete example (which is balanced) towards importing a Mimicry mechanic. So I would say, use Siberys'. Plus it has a pdf. Outstanding fluff though. |
