where did he land? what did he achieve?

I would aprreciate useful links.

I dont think it really says any where what Lathander was up to during the time of troubles, how ever there is mention in the 3.x book Faiths and Pantheons that after the Time of Troubles that Lathander once again began working on the ritual that lead to the Dawn Cataclysm ,so its possible that Lathander was scoping out ancient tomes and what not looking for components to this ritual, that would basically rewrite the entire Pantheon into Lathander's own image, which sounds alot like what Szass Tam was trying to do, who knows, maybe its the same ritual!!?

Well, I have taken a looooooong pause from playing, I restarted 3-4 months ago (after many years), never played 4ed (i have no 4e books), and never cared for what happened to the realms in 4e..... so I don't know what Mr. Tam did.

I've just DMed the battle for shadowdale, and the cleric in the party asked where Lathander was while Bane was destroying his temple (one of the most important in Faerun) in Shadowdale. I fear he could be willing to search for the avatar of Lathander, and I have to think to something. Or I could simply say "you have no clue at all about his location" (after all with the wild magic little problem, he cannot even use divination spells).

I could place him in Candlekeep (since he could be researching ancient tomes, as you suggest), or Waterdeep (shouldn't be located there his major temple?). But if he was in Waterdeep, surely he would had some role in the final chapter of the avatar trilogy.....

Any suggestion?

Maybe he was performing his duties as Chauntea's consort, hoping that they might produce an heir who could finally lead the world into a brighter future... Looking at 4e that didn't work out so well, but as you're ignoring 4e anyway...
