| #1springwindJul 07, 2008 8:18:09 | The weave and its destruction At the beginning of the realms when shar and selune battled for dominance, selune ripped the stuff of light magic from her form and hurled it at shar, it passed through shar ripping out the stuff of shadow magic and became the Weave personified in Mystral. When this occurred there was balance in the weave and neither goddess controlled magic but it was still a part of their divine essences, and thus Mystral became the fulcrum between the two goddesses. When Karsus attempted to become a god, he destroyed mistral, thus releasing the two halves of magic back to their respective goddesses. When Ao???? (Selune created Mystra, she was only half the goddess she used to be. Selune gave back the essence of light magic into Mystra’s care, but Shar kept the essence of shadow magic to herself, thus the balance had been destroyed and the weave was only half of what it was. With the return of the Shadovari shadow magic was also returned to the realms, but not combined as it should have been, and when the magic of light and dark combined, a tear in reality occurred (see Elminster in Hell) My question is this, with so much of Mystra’s power already shunted into her chosen and other respositories, and the essence of light magic being part of selune’s divine essence, why didn’t light and shadow recombine at Mystra’s final death, why wasn’t she restored again as before, why didn’t the essence of light magic return to selune as the essence of shadow had returned to Shar????? The Spell Plague makes little sense when put in this light….. can someone please explain it to me???? |
