#1 Style75 Jun 19, 2011 6:10:38	I'm looking for a FR novel set in the 4e FR world that captures the tone and flavor and really highlights all of the changes since the spellplague and the 100 year jump. Any suggestions?
#2 Tscharod Jun 19, 2011 8:14:38	It depends in which area you are interested in. I liked the "Blades of the Moonsea" trilogy of Richard Baker very much (describing the changes of this area). If you want to know more about the spellplague, Jak Koke's "The Edge of Chaos" was nice. Otherwise the Ed Greenwood presents Waterdeep series gives an overview about the changes in the city of splendors.

I guess I'm looking for something that really sets the tone for what the world as a whole is like after the 100 year jump and the spellplague. The kind of book that a DM (like me) could pick up and use a basis for starting a campaign in the 4e FR world.
#4 Evergreen_Aldaron Jun 19, 2011 12:24:35	Maybe Sword of the Gods? It is set in Akanul I believe and is part of the Abyssal Plague series. Gives a bit of the political structure of Akunal as well as some great NPC's that are usable. Might make a nice jumping off point. I don't know of any novel that actually details ALL of the Spellplague effects.
#5 18DELTA Jun 20, 2011 2:17:49	Just depends on what you are looking for. The Ed Presents is good for Waterdeep. The Chosen of Nendawan(sp) is good for Narfell, Damara and certain parts of the Feywild. The Blades of the Moonsea is great for that area(One of the best Realms series I have ever read). The Wilds show 4 different places.(Only read Edge of Chaos) Sandstorm is set in Calimshan. Richard Lee Byars series is continuing the Thay series and Year of the Rogue Dragon series, it's set in Chassenta/Tymanther. The Elminster series is set so far in Cormyr.
#6 pruano Jun 20, 2011 5:47:31	The Wilds show 4 different places.(Only read Edge of Chaos) Read Wrath of the Blue Lady; set briefly in the Pirate Isle and Westgate (with a brief description of the post-spellplague changes to the last one, sadly no map), with the rest of the time set above and beneath the waves of the Sea of Fallen Stars, between Prespur and the Pirate Isle. Almost no mention of the Spellplague, and a very average book.
#7 Diffan Jul 09, 2011 21:13:09	I was a big fan of Swordmage and Corsair (book 1 & 2 of the Blades of the Moonsea trilogy) by Rich Baker (sorry for the confusion!) and I highly recommend them. He mentiones the spellplague and there is a character with a spellscar but those aren't focus points.
