Looking for advice about Realms novels

Apr 01, 2009 10:24:11 Hey community. I'm looking for people's favorite Realms novels to see which ones I should read next. I read a lot of fantasy and I'm on a Realms kick lately. In the past, I've read all of Salvatore's Drizzt books and a few books of mixed short stories from the Realms. Recently, I've been reading the Erevis Cale trilogy by Paul Kemp, and will probably read Kemp's more recently trilogy soon as well. I think I might be interested in War of the Spider Queen next, but I'm open to suggestions. What's your favorite Realms series/book?

Apr 01, 2009 10:59:20 My standard recommendation is to try reading anything by Ed Greenwood or Elaine Cunningham.

Apr 01, 2009 21:48:26 -Standard advice: Pick up one of the Realms of X anthology novels, where 'X' represents Dragons, Magic, Elves, Undead, Shadows, and a bunch of other things. They have about 7-10 short stories each, with different authors and characters. A lot of them are one-shots, but many feature characters like Erevis Cale, or Arilyn Moonblade, or Drizzt Do'Urden. Reading those will help you find new authors/characters/places that you might like.
