This was an amazing story and has made me miss classic FR even more. I wish WoTC would adopt an open timeline for their FR novels. That way we can get stories from any time period. How amazing would that be?

INterestig story. Im intruiged by Manshoons promise. Did he make a deal with Mystra to save his life? What is/was Mystra's interest in Manshoon? Was it simply because he had a gift with the Art? Mystra truely works in Mysterious ways.

Not sure I like Elminster being the villan, but still we now have offical 4e stats for Elminster, yea!!! I kinda thought he would be more like 30th level but this isnt El in his prime, this is crazy insane Spellplague Elminster so I guess it works out. Sounds interesting, but I feel reall bad for El if this is following events in the book. So now its up to the PCs to round up the 7 ghosts of Cormyr and feed them to Elminster!?

That would be cool, Id love to see novels focusing on the past, a trilogy on the Crown Wars? Id pay to see that!

Bleh. More evidence that 4E Realms is a corpse, and the vultures are just stripping meat from its bones.
How can I enjoy stories of old Faerun, like Lord of the Darkways, with things like this in its future? Can't. Frankly, it even makes me want to avoid Elminster must die! Sorry, Ed.

Well I wouldnt call it evidence of anything, let alone the Realms being a corpse. Any way its up to the PCs in the scenario, they could possibly off El, or possibly subdue him and restore him to sanity, in which case it wouldnt be such a bad ending. And any way Im not even sure if anything like that even goes down in the novel. Id at least give it a chance before you decide you dont like it. And Im referring to the novel, Ive already pieced together that you dont like 4e Realms.

I weep for you my friend. Whatever your feelings are about the timeline jump, it is still the Realms, it is still Greenwood and it is a great read. Open your mind to the fact that good stories can still be told and you won't have to morn for the Realms.
