| #1Mr_MiscellanyOct 11, 2011 22:36:47 | Heads up: the product page for the Lords of Waterdeep Boardgame is up. It can be found here. Some Realms designers got a chance to play the game at GenCon. What can be said about the game that has been said can be found here. I wish the product page had more photographs. I'd love to see what parts of the game, if any, can be used for regular D&D play. |

| #4Mr_MiscellanyOct 20, 2011 14:27:08 | $50 retail for a board game? Let's apply the rule of halves. $50 retail... Means $25 wholesale... Means $12.50 to manufacture PLUS cover Wizard's of the Coast's cost to design, test and more or less create what the manufacturer would later mass produce, PLUS make a profit. Means WotC makes $6.25 off of each game sold. If we take that $6.25 in cost to produce and split it in half (half to manufacture the game and half to design the game) then those wooden tokens and various other game parts cost about $3.12. |

| #6Mr_MiscellanyJan 13, 2012 22:39:56 | Rodney Thompson and Peter Lee are going to host Waterdeep Wednesdays on Twitter, where they'll play the new Waterdeep boardgame every Wednesday and post pictures and tweets as they play. More info about it on their thread at boardgamegeek.com. Product page here. Picture of the game board, cards, pieces, rulebook, etc... here (scroll down). |
| #7GhostriderJan 30, 2012 12:52:25 | I got a chance to play Lords of Waterdeep at DDXP this past weekend (3 player game). Wow, it's awesome. I can't wait to get a copy for myself. Gameplay: I don't like Euro games or resource management games but loved this. It really has something for everyone in it. I was overwhelmed with the rules in game setup and expected to dislike it but after just a round of play it became second nature. Feel: It is FILLED with FR lore. I spent time reading a lot of the flavor text when I wasn't planning my next move. Packaging: Top notch. Everything has it's home so no more plastic baggies for me. Price: As others have said $50 is a little high for wooden blocks. There is a lot of game pieces though and the excellent interior packaging is a bonus. I won't bat an eye about the price because I thik the game has a lot going for it. Bonus: You can play with 2 players. I know the wife and I will be getting a lot of fun out of this game. |
