Well Met!

This is a Lore Call for the Candlekeep Compendium.

Candlekeep is looking for individuals interested in contributing to a new volume of works about the Forgotten Realms.

With your help, the once dormant Compendium can be revived and resume its place as the shining example of the very best in contributions to the Forgotten Realms by Realms fans the world over.

Discussion about the Compendium on Candlekeep's forums can be found HERE.

See you there!

On topic. They needed to do this sooner IMO...

Thought there were some potential ownership/legal issues with WotC's 4e OGL or whatever the hells they called it for 4e stuff, which was why they stopped publishing it... if so, I'm glad it got settled, ultimately it was only hurting D&D in general, and the Realms in particular.  Not that I ever used the Compendiums much, except as a bit of inspiration here and there for my own stuff, but that's not really the point.

Agreed.

On that note, I'm setting my sights on Laerakond.

Well, now it's time for you to give back. ;)

I bet some of your home Realms game stuff would look pretty good in a future Compendium article.

So...just who are you at Candlekeep (that is, if you've signed up)?

The roll of scribes would look a lot better with a Stigger listed on it!

Just sayin.

Heh, could be.  My one and only problem with it is the site itself... everytime I log on there, I get a headache within a few minutes from the color schemes available.  Just does a number on my eyes.  Haven't checked back in a while though to see if there's any other options to keep my brain from hurting.  Should probably do that soon.

Nope, just reregistered (it's been ages), and sadly it still wreaks havoc on my eyes.

Bummer. Sorry to hear that Stigger.

They're working on a Candlekeep Version 2 right now. Hopefully when it arrives you'll be able to get a screen format that doesn't cause your eyes problems.

I bet you'd have a lot of cool stuff to say.

Or I'd get lynched for seriously screwing around with canon, especially where churches were concerned...

Somehow I doubt my take on the churches of Lliira, Sune, Eilistraee, Loviater, and Auril would sit well with a whole lot of purists, since they only follow the lore in the vaguest senses, and pretty much fly in the face of the novels.  But who knows, maybe I'll put something together and toss it out there just to mess with some heads.

Actually used some compendeum material for an adventure some 8 or 10 years ago did a bunch of research on areas and ancient history.  I stumbled over some things that worked really great for our homebrew realms game, I think it was 3rd edition then.  But the strange part was years later as I caught up in my novel reading I came across material in the novels that sounded and was as much like what my players experienced it became even more exciting to read.  Even some of the encounters were similar, though I refrain from giving the authors name or the title of the book.  I went back to find the material I used a couple of PC's later and never have found those documents again.  Haven't delved as deep as I did then but Candlekeep is a wealth of wonderful and useful material.  It had a whole history having to do with Damara being covered by a sea way back in ancient Realms lore up to the year of Rogue Dragons.  Great Stuff!!!Laughing

As a big fan of Lliira and Loviatar, I'd be interested in what you'd put together.

My only complaint with Candlekeep is that the boards are probably the worst organised boards on the internet. There are multiple overlapping categories and some categories attract too few posts while others attract too many. It's a horrible mess.

However, the content is fantastic once you find it (and note to first time Candlekeepers: find Ed's threads and also Eric Boyd's for some great free Realmslore).

Hmmm... maybe I'll put something together and stick it up as a blog here on this site.  Probably sometime mid to late next week, too much going on this weekend, none of which I'm particularly looking forward to.

CK has been reluctant to do a project like this so I'm heading one up over on Loremaster.

Check out the project. We're conforming to themes with the first being on Villans (or anything associated with villianeous acts, organizations, etc...)
