| #1aryanightingaleNov 10, 2008 8:56:23 | Hello. I was wondering what changes happened with the deity Malar in 4.0. I have not been able to find the Forgotten Realms 4.0 books in this area, so I am stuck relying on secondary sources at the moment. Thank you. |

Listed as evil, resident in the Deep Wilds dominion. His sphere of influence is beasts, his priests are called “talons,” and the adjective describing thing to do with him is Malarite. Outside the cosmology material, the main mentions of him are in the material covering Luruar and the Moonshaes, where groups of lycanthropes called "the People of the Black Blood" or "the Black Blood" tribe worship him. |

If my recollections are not mistaken, I had the impression that Malar was an enemy of the nature gods for they promoted harmony, something he opposed. It would also explain why he hates Fair Folk in general. But now it seems he has to 'work' with them more if he serves Silvanus. On the other hand, I did wish there was more for the pragmatic side of him, such as the need for the hunt and instinct. Maybe I look at him in a skewered way, though. Any druid/Malarite experts here? Even more, what happened with the concept of the Deities of Fury? Talos seems to now be an aspect of Gruumsh and Auril seems to have went her own way. I am not trying to gripe, I am just curious about this stuff. |

I am not trying to gripe, I am just curious about this stuff. It's still valid. Brian even references the 'Gods of Fury' [the *Three Furies* of Malar, Umberlee, and Auril] concept in his working of the "Hall of the Frostmaiden" article for DRAGON #367. |
