A little tidbit I made for my game after Martial Power 2 came out with martial practices...

--A tome entitled "The Dark Justiciar Manual"
This tome describes a secret society of martial devotees of Shar; to gain admittance, one must murder an especially favored priest of Selune known as a Silverstar.

Property:  One may learn several martial practices by studying the the tome: Alter Ego; Feign Death; Hidden Pocket; Precise Forgery; Word on the Street.

Boon: Gain a permanent +2 bluff unholy boon. Special:  To receive this boon, one must spend nine days praying a dark novena to Shar contained in this manual.   This act is evil, and would not be looked well upon by individuals devoted to good or lawful good deities.

Let me know if you like/dislike and/or plan to use in your game!

Does one have to be a Martial class to learn these practices? If a straight cleric studied the book could they cain the martial practices with out having to Multiclass into a martial class?

Hmm... Well, technically, to use a martial practice, you must have the 'Martial Practice' feat.  In my campaign, I allow fighters and rangers to have that feat as a class feature, much like wizards get ritual caster.  So, I suppose the way I would adjudicate it would be to let a cleric learn the martial practices provided that s/he took the martial practice feat.

I might make an exception for a cleric devoted to Shar (though it is unlikely that a Sharran cleric would be a PC...)

Right, right, Im not real familiar with the Martial Practices. I havnt picked up Martial Power 2 yet. I remeber they offered up a preview for it. Theyre pretty much like rituals but only martila in nature right?

Exactly.  They aren't quite as powerful as rituals, and some of them I think should be automatic for certain classes (Trackers Eye and Warded Campsight seem to me like basic Ranger skills... skills any ranger would pick up before paragon tier, to be sure).

There are two feats -- Practiced Study and Rapid Practice

Practiced Study
Heroic Tier
Prerequisite: Any martial class
Benefit: You can master and perform martial practices. You learn one martial practice of your level or lower.

Rapid Practice
Paragon Tier
Prerequisite: 11th level, any martial class, Practiced Study feat
Benefit: You can perform martial practices in half the time it normally takes.

Given the overall weakness and non-spectacular nature of these practices, I think requiring the feats is probably a little much.  There are like 25 martial practices.  They are kind of neat, but again, none of them are spectacular.  I like them for flavor more than anything else.
