About to kick off a campaign involving the Dales, Cormyr and Sembia.  I would like to start the PCs in Mistledale, but I'm having trouble locating my old FR1 supplement and I can't find any suitable maps online. Any ideas? And before you say it, my talent with CC3 and the old pencil and watercolor are in the low 2s when it comes to keeping an overland map in scale with canon.

Thanks in advance for any attention.

well its not mistledale, or may not be suiteable, but did you consider looking for a full blown map of 3.x faerun and taking a look at mistledale's locattion.
other than this cant recommend anything, as I dont own that book.

Thanks for the reply, sf. Hmm, I'm really looking for a map that would display the Barrowfields, the location of villages like Glen (not sure if I'd still keep that around after 100 years), the old Abbey and other landmarks.  If I remember correctly, 3.x wasn't that detailed. I thought that someone may have come up with a suitable campaign map on their own that I could adapt. I'll look, though.

well the only other people who might have a copy of that are either here, at Candlekeep or at Loremaster....... or dont post at any of the places anymore in complete disgust at what WOTC did to the Realms.

Ody might have it
Nai might have it
Silversword might
Delta might
Lord Manshoon might

all else fails and no map can b e found

rule 0 applies: place them anywhere in mistle dale.

Another thing you might want to check out is Fractal Mapper 8, its alot easier to use than Campaign Cartographer. You can just past a bmp of a map on there, trace over it, and add in what ever you want. Ive got like zero artistic talent but I managed to whip up this map of the Border Kingdoms area, and I thought it turned out pretty good, got some homebrew stuff in there as well.

Have you checked out the Previous Edition Downloads? www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/do... It has Volo's Guide to the Dales, and Volo's Guide to Cormyr in it.

Have you tried www.candlekeep.com? I know they host fan made maps.

Hope this helps, good gaming.

(I've given the full address as I am not sure if the image can be posted and I cannot be bothered trying to work out how to use these crappy boards better.)

Ohhhhhh, nice one Imruphel! That is a beautiful map. Which issue specificaly is that from, do you know? Definitely worth checking out. IM having a little trouble dating the map. Obviously sometime after Myth Drannor was refounded, but before the Standing Stone was rebuilt.

It's from Dragon 354, April 2007. The article is titled Cormanthyr. I think it was by George Krashos but I would need to double-check that.

Go here -

candlekeep.com/

Scroll down a wee bit and you will see the Candlekeep Compendium IX, which you can download for free. There is both a map and an article on Mistledale in there. It is the ONLY FR map to show the proper placement of Freedale.
