Hello one and all,

As a DM who is running a new campaign, I noticed that there are no detailed maps of 4th edition Forgotten Realms Icewind Dale areas.  Where can I go to find maps and the such for this?  There was the Drizzt book that was published a while ago, but I wonder if that is it?
If anyone has any links to any mapping sites, that would be great as well.  Cheers!

Try Legacy of the Crystal Shard

The above link just took me to the download of monter stats but there were no maps. Does anyone else have an idea where I might get an idea of detail maps for Legacy of the Crystal Shard?

You might try looking for Forgotten Realms Atlas, not to be confused with the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas (which would be even better, but good luck getting a hold of it), from the 2e era in a .pdf format over at dndclassics.com.  Barring that being available, I think it is, but I'm pretty tired right now, Volo's Guide to the North, The North boxed set, and something else that's escaping me at the moment also had at least a few maps of the region, with Volo's being the better option as I recall.

Here's Mike Schley's map from Legacy of the Crystal Shard: 3.bp.blogspot.com/-zHEC5wWJH4c/UqF9F2E7b9I/AAAAAAAABSg/6tVPo9qVTtw/s1600/LotCS+2187+x+864.jpg

Thanks to the popularity of the novels, it's really easy to find maps of Icewind Dale simply using Google.

It is sad that the absolute worst thing about the 4E version of the Realms was the piss-poor world map and the detail-free (and when there were details they often wrong) regional maps which were basically just snapshots from the world map.

I used to wonder where the idea for the 4E map came from until 2012 when my son was about 6-months-old and his diaper used to be filled with the same colours - and perhaps the same designs! - as were used to produce the 4E world map.

Anyway, enough of my ranting. Enjoy the link I posted: Micke Schley is a great cartographer with a clear passion for great maps of the Realms (check out his maps of the Moonshaes, Cormyr, Chessenta, Vaasa, and the Silver Marches for further proof).
