Mathora'N'Tel'Quessir, Defenders of the Non-Elves (PEACH)

Sep 23, 2008 6:35:23 Founded in new Myth Drannor by eladrin and elves disgusted and outraged by the activities of the Eldreth Veluuthra, the Defenders are an order of knights that concentrate on thwarting the Eldreth Veluuthra, who they consider terrorists, cowards and traitors to the People.

Defenders of the Non-Elves, founded shortly after Queen Amlauril Moonflower discovered evidence tying certain noble families in the council of nobles to channeling money and other resources to the Eldreth Veluuthra, it consists mainly of sun and moon elves with a few half elves who have personal reasons to fight the Eldreth Veluuthra.

They work on three ways: evangelising against Eldreth Veluuthra xenophobia; providing free or cheap guards to human caravans , farmers and the like engaged in legitimate activity endangered by the Eldreth Veluuthra; and striking against Eldreth Veluuthra cells when they can find them.

Many members are paladins or priests - making Eldreth Veluuthra infiltration difficult - and caravan guards will consist of half a dozen heavily armed and armoured mounted knights together with a number of mounted archers.

Protection is erratic, based on the Orders' evaluation of risk and isn't something you can ask for. They might turn up to save you from a raid though.

They don't have wide spread support among elves: though most deplore the activities of the Eldreth Veluuthra, dedicating yourself to fighting other elves isn't a popular choice either. Obvious enemies are the Eldreth Veluuthra and sympathisers.

Sep 23, 2008 11:30:58 The focus of the FR books on the bad guys has left us with a huge shortage of "good" guys - and the point of FR is meant to be that there are thousands of plots going on at any one time.

Anyway, I think that a dozen gold elf knights thundering to the rescue of some humble wood cutters (or PCs) about to be ambushed by the EV would make an amusing vignette ...
