so, She's in the character builder, and it seems like she didn't die in the spellplague, so is there any print information on what role Mielikki has in the 4E world?

Hopefully i'm not posting in the wrong forum!

Thanks!

She continues to serve Silvanus as a benevolent mistress of forests, and serves as a counterbalance to the arrival of Malar and Umberlee. That's about it.

The same role she had in 3e, not much changed.

I for one am glad, that not much has changed with her. I like the Nature Gods of the Realms. I still plan on having Talos and Gruumsh waging a Holy War between each other.

Then how do you feel about Eldath's transition?

She is an Arch Fey now. Makes sense in the context of 4th Edition.

Ah. I only asked because I know a lot of people who like Eldath weren't too pleased to see her go from goddess to archfey.

In 4E terms being an Archfey is still being of god like power and there are numerous different creatures with the power in or around that of gods. Many things considered gods under 3E are now different creatures, but just because they aren't called gods doesn't make them any less powerful.

Wasn't speaking about power. Just noticed some people didn't care for the "She was always an Archfey" revelation.

For me it's not really convincing, always thought she came from Jhaamdathan pantheon, once a goddess of the sea, lost her power after the fall to Umberlee, unambitious ever since.

But archfey are acceptable, those world spirits I don't get the difference.

I adore Eldath and have no problem with her being an archfey. I'm rather intrigued myself by the concept of gods vs primordials/titans but then I love the Greek myths.

Funny enough, I kept Eldath as a goddess, but made Nobanion and Lurue nature spirits. Thing is, I don't care more about Eldath than either of the latter two.

I don't use FR gods, only as inspiration, but I think she makes the world more unique. Designers said they ignored her cause she's useless for adventurers, with their hack and slash approach they forgot NPCs.

Nobanion, I liked some of his aspects, other changed a lot. Lurue is better now, as fey, no matter she was first Mystra.

This seems to be their favorite position, other than deity X was redundant. But in the case of Shaundakul, who was an ideal deity for adventurers and was pretty unique, he still got axed. Which baffles me, to be honest. On a similar note, does anyone else think the reduction of portals in Faerun is connected to Shaundakul's disappearance?

All of my Nature Gods are Archfey now. I like that better personally. I have even started looking at added their domains into the Feywild which is a concept I also like.

See I am about to start working on a Realms Campaign set in 225DR. I read Elminster Making of the Mage and fell in love with the time period. I bought Dragon 228 that had the Magelords in it. Started looking up and researching the time period.

Now I plan on using alot of the 4E Ideas in it. Feywild, Shadowfell, Elemental Chaos, Genasi, Dragonborn ectera.

The high forest will still have Elves in it but the Sun and Moon Elves will be Eladrin. The Mythals will be containing portions of the feywild on Toril.

The Empire of Ebenfar will be a Shar-kai, Shadowfell kingdom ruled by the Shadowking.

The Kingdom of Najara, will be the Yuan-Ti Kingdom that is at war with Ebonfar.

Calimshan will be a Genasi kingdom.

Undermountain exsists, but its ruled by Drow, and Duergar. Halaster calls periodic Hunts into its depths.:D

This is just the Western Heartlands.

I dont know if I will use Returned-Abeir yet.

Cormyr will have been around for only 199 years. Lots of potential with the future Stonelands which are Netheres survivor states.

This include Chauntea?

Sounds cool.

The Empire of Ebenfar will be a Shar-kai, Shadowfell kingdom ruled by the Shadowking. The Kingdom of Najara, will be the Yuan-Ti Kingdom that is at war with Ebonfar.

Shadar-kai vs Yuan-ti. Sounds awesome.

Calimshan will be a Genasi kingdom.

I changed things up in my realms so that instead of Memnon's fans vs Calim's fans, it's the tyrannical human overlords and their loyal servants vs the rebellious slaves (principally Genasi). Guerrilla warfare, civil war, bastions of defense, etc.

And so this isn't off-topic, in my own realms, Mielikki was dropped to lesser godhood. Reason? Her half-elven aspect, Khalreshaar (spelling?), was given her own sentience, and broke away from Mielikki, taking a portion of her divine might with her as she joined the Seldarine.

If this is your goal, wouldn't it be prudent to include something about her in your own post?Tongue out

But, if you so desire, I'll throw you a bone. Ao knows Shar doesn't talk to you. *ahem* I wonder how Mielikki and her church views plaguewrought land. It's certainly unnatural and anathema to them, but what can they do to stop it? Furthermore, it must be a blow to lose forests to spellplague pockets. I wonder how/if Mielikki would combat/adapt to this.

But it does seem to have an impact on whether they can maintain Churches or not. Have they not been moved away from Churches to Cults in most cases or random groupings of scattered adherents in others?

I don't personally see any need for changes in the churches of primordials and archfey unless the DM desired it. How many people in Faerun would actually be able to tell the difference between a god, exarch, primordial and archfey anyway? Of those who would, to what end would they use this information?

Actually, I can see interesting possibilities for someone who wishes to discredit an enemy/neutral god by revealing the "secret identity" of said god to his/her flock, in an attempt to disillusion the faithful and lure them to that person's faith.  A tad similar to how Christians ages ago would at times look at another culture's gods and tell those people they were worshipping fiends and pretenders (even if they didn't possess such knowledge).
#27

pamela

I did think of that as well and am sure it would have happened in some areas. I could see some people blaming the 'pretender gods' as being quiet allies in Mystra's death and the rise of the Spellplague. It certainly wouldn't help if they learned that the people of this returned world were atheists!

But while I think it would be utterly cool for a story plot, I also don't think it would be that widespread across the world. But that could just be me.

Which reminds me: It's been said the people revere the Primordials in RA (albeit not necessarily of their own accord). Has it been stated if the people there worship Demon Lords, Archfey, etc.?

I'd imagine that demon and fey worship is no more prevalent in RA than in Toril, though I don't think I've seen it explicitly stated anywhere.

I'd imagine because of its association with the Abyss (eg primordials and titans) that there probably would be some links with demons. I don't think there would be too many (if any) with the fey. Mind you, this is complete conjecture on my part; I haven't paid careful attention to the Abeir section or the related articles.

Well, for me the lore on the subject is a little hazy. After all, deities now can invest clergy by rituals than bind divine power to them, whereas adherents of primordials and fey seem to draw on and evoke the power of those other powers pretty much directly. That sort of shift would seem to suggest some kind of ecclesiasitical restructuring even without the "outing" of some ex-deities.

I haven't seen much in the way of these boundaries being explored (except in the Lathander to Amaunator shift in Swordmage) and would be seriously interested in suggested sources that do.

It seems then that the restructuing might actually taking place in the temples led by gods. The destruction of the Weave has somehow enabled their churches to directly access divine power for themselves by their rites, where before the gods, like primordials and the archfey, would have been able to simply withdraw their favour and their power by their own will.

I agree however, that the topic is very interesting and I'd also like to see more on it.

Call me old-fashioned, but that's one of the things that rubs me the wrong way about how divine power is accessed in 4E. I understand that it opens up more room for heretics and unorthodox characters, but I don't like the idea of a deity being a great big Energizer battery in the Astral Sea. To me, they should have control over who gets what, when they get it, how much of it they get, and whether they get to keep it over time.

But even though I ignore it in my own game, I'd still like to see it get fleshed out some more, in the novels or such.
