Gorstag is an adventuring Priest from Cormyr who’s picked up bits of bardcraft, fighting man’s skills and a knack for useful sorcery (True Strike, anyone?), in his adventures in the Moonsea region. Gorstag enjoys collecting other people’s coins and using them to bribe his way into interesting places with lots of potential for mayhem. He actively goads his adventuring companions to do incredibly foolish things on the off chance they might succeed, as he believes this is what pleases Lady Luck the most. Just the other day, for example, he arranged the marching order so that the two elves in the party (Sun Elf and Half Drow) were side by side and at the front of the group, as he believed this arrangement had the most potential with regard to the Red Plumes and the Great Law of Humanity that holds sway in Hillsfar, as Hillsfar was where the party was headed. Gorstag sometimes disguises himself as a codpiece merchant and keeps a rooster (nicknamed "****") as a familiar. Gorstag is turning out to be one of my favorite characters. He can easily be adapted as an NPC and fill any of several roles: he can represent the Church of Tymora, the Crown of Cormyr, the Harpers or be simply a surprise NPC for a bit of humorous entertainment and roleplaying opposite your group's Player Characters. |

So don thy codpiece and strap it on tight! May your bits survive this fight! Prayer For Sure Footing —spoken just before entering battle, as much a reminder as to break grim moods: On the ground in battle is not the place to be. If it must needs happen, better you then me! Tymora watch over you this fight! I’ll see you when the fight is over... —another pre-battle prayer May the Luck of the Goddess protect you from harm and see you safely through this battle. Otherwise I’ll pray your soul finds its way safely into Tymora’s waiting arms. Advice Before Battle

For some reason my instant mental image went to a halfling worshiper of Brandobaris screwing with people in Amn - mocking all the merchants by pretending to be one of them. Is this a character that you play, or a character played in one of your games? |
| #6Mr_MiscellanyMay 06, 2011 9:17:15 | Hi Meldread, Gorstag is a PC that I play in a weekly Realms game. He's lots of fun. :D |

(Or while on the trail to the next most convenient place the female half-drow Fighter can strangle Gorstag in his sleep and burry him in an unmarked grave. That charcoal-colored man-woman is a very tempramental meat shield who has no appreciation for fine music.) The Never Ending Ballad of the Mighty Codpiece My codpiece travels far but never travels light. My codpiece does not fear women, cold weather or fights. My codpiece is good for brawling, My codpiece’ contents tender. My codpiece sends lesser men a’ bawling, and sings out to the fairer gender. When traveling in Cormyr My codpiece is laced tight. As the law of Peacestrings in Cormyr applies to blades both in—and out—of sight. A noble did once accost me, saying, “Your codpiece, it offends!” I replied, “It matches my outfit, sir, therefore draw arms and defend!” The Cormyrian drew his blade, magnificent, shiny and bright. I produced my own less impressive blade, and wished we were fighting at night. The noble ladies of Cormyr are by and large fickle. I prefer codpieces feathred on the inside for the pleasant tickle. |
