| #16rauricAug 11, 2008 11:28:17 | @ Merrick If it was just a reprint of the 2E and 3E books then I would just stick with Eberron this go around. The new campaign book has enough of the old FR to reamain the Realms to me but has enough new aspects to it to make me want to purchase it. That is all. I have found over the last few years that I am not emotionally committed to the NPCs, regions and gods of the setting. So this "detachment" lets me go with the flow when it comes to the changes. I like Mask, if he was killed off I may still pick up the main sourcebook if I liked the other things inside it. Plus it may have new monsters in it that as a DM I can use for my games that do not deal with FR. This does not make me better or any nonsense like that. I understand why folks do not like the changes. I just never understood why people cannot see why other may like the changes. |
| #17yarethonAug 11, 2008 11:31:59 | If it was just a reprint of the 2E and 3E books then I would just stick with Eberron this go around. I agree with this. .. and i dont even like Eberron. We have a whole lot of reprints already. |
| #18StarFyre2007Aug 11, 2008 11:32:07 | book was a lot..$29..ordered it along time ago and forgot to check for lower prices to cancel it and re-order, etc. in response to someone else in another thread: I didn't see ANY paragon paths or epic destinies. I think that stuff will be in the players guide. This book has bunch new monsters, but sadly, no Phaerimm...I believe i read they are to be extinct at this point in time (or beleived all dead)... No new feats either..although some magic items are there. Didn't see a spell section. it mentions high magic, in that they are VERY powerful ritual based spells that can destroy continents, etc..but they need 10+ or something elven/eladrin wizards to do... No high magic rituals are listed that I can find. Sanjay |
| #19red_wizardAug 11, 2008 11:32:58 | -Thanks. So is it Chapters.com? How much was the book? :D $30 CDN, $35 CDN with shipping, though over $39 has free shipping. Might cost more though shipping to the states. -RW |

| #21umbralknightAug 11, 2008 11:38:43 | Hold on a second. Zehir? I wasn't expecting that one. Set must be aggravated. | #25rauricAug 11, 2008 11:44:21 | He was my "favorite" too until I realized it was silly for a DM to have a favorite god. ;) Anyway they may be waiting to add him into the world after Kemps novels are finished. Or he is just no more. If he is not and I need him to tell a story then I will just add him into my game. |
| #26fire_wraithAug 11, 2008 11:54:04 | Anyone want to lay odds on something happening to him at the end of Kemp's current trilogy? Maybe Shar eats him. Or, maybe Kezef catches up to him and finishes the job. :D |

| #29fire_wraithAug 11, 2008 12:16:57 | Iluvrien: At least a permanent Angarradh makes more sense, with regard to the prior storyline/history, than turning Sehanine into Selune does. (I still don't like the whole pantheon revamp regardless, but I'll give credit where it's due) Though, maybe they're still doing that - who knows. |

Unlike you, I too damned attached to the old to be anything other than totally ticked off I figured. ;) I also know some people cannot understand why I like the idea for the changes. I do not agree with people who dislike the changes but I understand the people feelings. |
| #32karazhanAug 11, 2008 12:40:07 | I also think change is a good thing...if it makes sense. However, when a company makes changes to its setting that create the same problems all over again, that is where all sense is lost. For example, eliminating Mystra and her chosen because they were deemed too powerful and meddling and then shifting the focus onto Shar and her meddling followers just leads back to an OP goddess and followers who always come out on top. Shar is the new Mystra in 4.0 but even stronger |

| #44MirtekAug 11, 2008 14:09:01 | yup, chapters.......lunch break so i can type the god list right now i think: Seing him really surprises me. I though that Set was slowly consuming his divine power for himself. Maybe the destructions of Set's main worshipper base during the merging with Abeir weakened Set enought for Sseth to wake up and consume Set instead. PS: Or they simply retconned Sseth and Set to have always been the same entity |
| #45fire_wraithAug 11, 2008 14:15:35 | Or they simply retconned Sseth and Set to have always been the same entity This is my bet. The reason Set is gone is probably because they got rid of the rest of the Mulhorandi Pantheon as a separate group (along with all the others). |

I did not take it that way, LK. I just wanted to head off at the pass the notion that the FRCS resolved the fates of Mask (and Cale and Riven and ABelar and Rivalen et al.) solely on the basis of the deity role call. Shadowrealm provides that resolution. I will say, however, that I think there are at least two more entries in the FRCS where hints about the matter are to be found (I think this because I helped tweak those two sections and I'm assuming both sections got in with the tweaks, though I haven't yet seen a final copy). |

Sourcebook, no, but that's because no sourcebooks of any kind are planned for any of the campaign settings. Just the three book deal, with support on the DDI. What I'd recommend to some of you who really want updates to this particular material to make submissions to Dragon. That's the best way to see it in print. |

The Xammux has been mentioned, at least a little bit (a strange dungeon entrance near Silverymoon). |
| #102uzzyAug 13, 2008 8:30:40 | So people need a novel to find out basic information about the setting already? Impressive! |

| #109GreenKnightAug 15, 2008 4:50:30 | Who do Bahamut and Garl Glittergold serve? |
| #110todesherrAug 15, 2008 5:09:48 | Who do Bahamut and Garl Glittergold serve? I heard Bahamut serves Torm...Garl..who knows... |
| #111umbralknightAug 15, 2008 10:57:13 | Garl? If I had to venture I guess, I'd say Moradin. |
| #112GreenKnightAug 15, 2008 11:05:56 | I heard Bahamut serves Torm...Garl..who knows... I did a search and didn't find it answered. One poster believes that's the case, but he didn't know for a fact. Garl? If I had to venture I guess, I'd say Moradin. I doubt it, if for no other reason then a question of numbers. Moradin likely already has Berronar Truesilver (Lesser God), Abbathor, Clangeddin Silverbeard, Dugmaren Brightmantle, Marthammor Duin, Thard Harr, and Vergadain serving him (they're all Dwarf gods who served him in 3E and who survived into 4E. It's possible some or all don't serve him, but I've seen no reason to assume so). Doubt that Garl and the other three Gnome gods will be added to that list. Then again, I was wrong about Auril, Malar, and Umberlee serving Gruumsh, so who knows? |
| #113GreenKnightAug 15, 2008 11:20:31 | Incidentally, I organized the demihuman gods by racial pantheons so people could get a hint as to the state of those particular pantheons. Naturally, G stands for Greater God, L for Lesser God, and D for Demigod. DWARF GODS G: Moradin L: Berronar Truesilver D: Abbathor, Clangeddin Silverbeard, Dugmaren Brightmantle, Marthammor Duin, Thard Harr, Vergadain ELF GODS G: Corellon L: Angharradh D: Deep Sashelas, Erevan Ilesere, Fenmarel Mestarine, Labelas Enoreth, Shevarash, Solonar Thelandira GNOME GODS G: ? L: Garl Glittergold D: Baervan Wildwanderer, Baravar Cloakshadow, Callarduran Smoothhands HALFLING GODS G: ? L: Sheela Peryroyl D: Arvoreen, Brandobaris, Cyrrollalee ORC GODS G: Gruumsh L: Luthic D: Bahgtru, Shargaas MONSTER RACE GODS G: ? L: ? D: Hruggek (Bugbears), Maglubiyet (Goblins), Vaprak (Ogres & Trolls) Pure supposition on my part is about to follow: Given that Yondalla turned out to be Chauntea, Sheela Peryroyl, Arvoreen, Brandobaris, and Cyrrollalee will likely end up in her service. From what was mentioned about Bane and Goblins, Hruggek and Maglubiyet may end up in his service. No idea where Vaprak might end up. Maybe serving Bane or Gruumsh. Only question is where will the Gnome gods go? Without one of their own being a Greater God, they'll have to become subordinate to another. Only question is who. |
| #114mourn_dupAug 15, 2008 11:58:51 | Incidentally, I organized the demihuman gods by racial pantheons so people could get a hint as to the state of those particular pantheons. Remember one key thing that has changed in 4e: gods are no longer racial-specific gods. They are simply the deities for all races, who have different aspects/manifestations that certain races revere over others. Different races also have different names/views of the same deity, much like in Dragonlance. So, Corellon is no longer the elf god, he's the god of the fey. Only question is where will the Gnome gods go? My guess is Corellon. |
| #115brennongoldeyeSep 09, 2008 11:12:00 | From what I have read I agree that the Gnomish Gods have taken shelter with Corellon. Gnomes have been part of Fey since their creation long long ago in Earth myth. Heck, Faenor from JRRTolkien was a Noldor, which JRR considered the gnomes of legend. They just didnt look like the cute skinny dwarves D&D made them out to be. ![]() |
| #116rinonalyrna_fathomlinSep 09, 2008 12:35:53 | I didn't see anything wrong with the old D&D interpretation of gnomes. |
| #117brennongoldeyeSep 09, 2008 14:14:30 | Don't get me wrong, i love the little cuties. Just saying they are much closer to the Seldarine than the Morndinsamman. :D |
| #118rinonalyrna_fathomlinSep 09, 2008 15:00:07 | Understood.![]() |
| #119estelindisSep 09, 2008 17:32:48 | Heck, Faenor from JRRTolkien was a Noldor, which JRR considered the gnomes of legend. They just didnt look like the cute skinny dwarves D&D made them out to be. But Tolkien's "gnomes" (the Noldor) were actually the elves from which D&D took its own elves... (Well, one type of elf. I mean, from the fact that you're referencing this, you clearly know it - which is why I don't really get your argument. As a side-point, just to be a total pedant: Fëanor was a Noldo. Noldor is the plural form. :D) |

| #123naexSep 10, 2008 23:22:54 | The tinker gnome was one of Dragonlance's lasting effects on the entire game. |
